Ixabepilone in Treating Patients With Metastatic, Recurrent, or Unresectable Kidney Cancer

Clear Cell Renal Cell CarcinomaRecurrent Renal Cell Cancer2 more

This phase II trial is studying how well ixabepilone works in treating patients with metastatic, recurrent, or unresectable kidney cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as ixabepilone, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing

Erlotinib and Sirolimus for the Treatment of Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma

Renal Cell Carcinoma

The purpose of this study is to test the safety and efficacy of the combination of erlotinib hydrochloride (Tarceva™) and sirolimus (Rapamune™) in the treatment of patients with metastatic kidney cancer.

Combination Chemotherapy and Total-Body Irradiation Before Donor Umbilical Cord Blood Transplant...

Breast CancerKidney Cancer4 more

RATIONALE: Giving low doses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy before a donor umbilical cord blood stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It also stops the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells when they do not exactly match the patient's blood. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune system and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can also make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving antithymocyte globulin before transplant and cyclosporine and mycophenolate mofetil after transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects of giving combination chemotherapy together with total-body irradiation before donor umbilical cord blood transplant and to see how well they work in treating patients with advanced hematologic cancer, metastatic breast cancer, or kidney cancer.

Vorinostat in Treating Patients With Kidney Cancer

Recurrent Renal Cell CarcinomaStage IV Renal Cell Cancer

This phase II trial is studying how well vorinostat works in treating patients with advanced kidney cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vorinostat, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Vorinostat may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking blood flow to the tumor.

Bortezomib in Treating Patients With Metastatic Kidney Cancer

Kidney Cancer

RATIONALE: Bortezomib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well bortezomib works in treating patients with metastatic kidney cancer.

Study Testing the Biologic Activity and Safety of an Immunotherapeutic in Patients With Newly Diagnosed...

Renal Cell Carcinoma

The purpose of this trial is to examine the safety, feasibility, immunological response, and clinical antitumor activity of multiple administrations of dendritic cell Immunotherapeutic to patients with newly diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer

Pazopanib (GW786034) In Subjects With Relapsed Or Refractory Multiple Myeloma

CarcinomaRenal Cell

The purpose of this study is to determine how effective and safe a new investigational drug is in treating patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. The treatment involves daily dosing. A patient may continue to receive the treatment as long as they are benefiting from the treatment. Blood samples will be taken at specific times to measure the amount of drug in your body at specific times after the drug is given. Blood samples will also be taken for lab tests such as complete blood counts and clinical chemistries. Physical exams will be performed before each treatment. During the treatment phase, the patients will undergo regular assessments for safety and clinical response.

Azacitidine and Recombinant Interferon Alfa-2b in Treating Patients With Stage III or Stage IV Melanoma...

Recurrent MelanomaRecurrent Renal Cell Cancer3 more

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of recombinant interferon alfa-2b when given together with azacitidine in treating patients with stage III or stage IV melanoma or stage IV kidney cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as azacitidine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Recombinant interferon alfa-2b may interfere with the growth of tumor cells. Giving azacitidine together with recombinant interferon alfa-2b may kill more tumor cells.

Safety/Efficacy of a Vaccine Prepared From Dendritic Cells Combined With Tumor Cells to Treat Advanced...

CarcinomaRenal Cell

The primary purpose of this study is to determine the safety of injections prepared from donor blood cells fused to a patient's own tumor cells which are then used to treat advanced (Stage IV) kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma or RCC). The study will also explore the effect the injections have on the size of the tumor and the response in the patient's immune system following administration.

Chemotherapy and Biological Therapy in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced or Metastatic Kidney...

Kidney Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Biological therapies such as interferon alfa use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. Combining biological therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combining chemotherapy with biological therapy in treating patients who have locally advanced or metastatic kidney cancer.
