Study of Hydroxychloroquine Before Surgery in Patients With Primary Renal Cell Carcinoma

Renal Cell Carcinoma

The main goal of this research study is to determine whether treating patients with renal cell cancer with hydroxychloroquine before surgery can make the cancer easier to kill. Another goal is to see how the study drug affects the body's immune cells which fight cancer cells.

Sunitinib and Irradiated Donor Lymphocytes in Treating Patients With Metastatic Kidney Cancer

Kidney Cancer

RATIONALE: Sunitinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Infusing irradiated donor lymphocytes into the patient may help the patient's immune system kill tumor cells. Giving sunitinib together with irradiated donor lymphocytes may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving sunitinib together with irradiated donor lymphocytes works in treating patients with metastatic kidney cancer.

Sunitinib Before and After Surgery in Treating Patients With Metastatic Kidney Cancer That Can Be...

Kidney Cancer

RATIONALE: Sunitinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving sunitinib before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. Giving it after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well sunitinib works when given before and after surgery in treating patients with metastatic kidney cancer that can be removed by surgery.

Bevacizumab With or Without MEDI-522 in Treating Patients With Unresectable or Metastatic Kidney...

Recurrent Renal Cell CancerRenal Cell Carcinoma2 more

This phase I/randomized phase II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of bevacizumab and to see how well it works when given together with or without MEDI-522 in treating patients with unresectable or metastatic kidney cancer. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab and MEDI-522, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab and MEDI-522 may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking blood flow to the tumor. It is not yet known whether bevacizumab is more effective when given together with or without MEDI-522 in treating kidney cancer.

Gemcitabine With or Without Imatinib Mesylate in Treating Patients With Metastatic or Unresectable...

Kidney Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Imatinib mesylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving gemcitabine together with imatinib mesylate may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying gemcitabine and imatinib mesylate to see how well they work compared with gemcitabine alone in treating patients with metastatic or unresectable kidney cancer.

Study of XL999 in Patients With Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma

Renal Cell Carcinoma

This clinical study is being conducted at multiple sites to determine the activity, safety, and tolerability of XL999 when given weekly to patients with metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC). XL999 is a small molecule inhibitor of multiple kinases including VEGFR, PDGFR, FGFR, FLT-3, and Src, which are involved in tumor cell growth, formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), and metastasis.

Phase IV Randomization to On-Going Treatment to Evaluate Sustained Sorafenib

CarcinomaRenal Cell

The purpose of this study is to see if taking interferon or gemcitabine along with sorafenib will stop the advanced renal cell cancer from becoming worse in some people. To do this, sorafenib along with gemcitabine or interferon will be compared to treatment with gemcitabine or interferon alone. More safety information on sorafenib will be also collected. About 260 patients with progressed renal cell cancer will be in this study.

PD-1 Alone or With Dendritic Cell/Renal Cell Carcinoma Fusion Cell Vaccine

Renal Cell Carcinoma

CT-011 is an investigational monoclonal antibody. Monoclonal antibodies are a type of drug that are known to target specific cells (in this case, cells in the immune system) The DC RCC Vaccine is agent that tries to help the immune system to recognize and fight against cancer cells. The purpose of this research study is to determine the safety of CT-011 alone, and in combination with the Dendritic Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (DC RCC) vaccine. The investigators are also trying to find out what effect the combination has on the disease, and on your immune system.

Fludarabine and Total-Body Irradiation in Treating Patients Who Are Undergoing a Donor Stem Cell...

Kidney Cancer

RATIONALE: Giving low doses of chemotherapy, such as fludarabine, and radiation therapy before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It also stops the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune system and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can also make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving cyclosporine and mycophenolate mofetil after transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving fludarabine together with total-body irradiation works in treating patients who are undergoing a donor stem cell transplant for metastatic kidney cancer that cannot be removed by surgery.
