The Effect of the Usage of Squeezable vs Standard Bottles After Cleft Palate Surgery on the Feeding...
Bottle FeedingThis study aims to examine the effect of the usage of squeezable bottles and standard bottles on the feeding process of infants with CLP after cleft palate surgery.
Double Blind Randomized Study Into the Efficacy of Codeine Phosphate Analgesia After Cleft Palate...
Cleft Palate RepairThis study examines the analgesic efficacy of codeine phosphate. It is compared to placebo in infants receiving morphine after surgery. Codeine may be effective enough to make morphine unnecessary.
Targeting Surgeons' Decision-Making for Cleft Lip Surgery
Cleft PalateCleft LipUsing separate prospective cohorts of patients who have lip revision and lip repair surgery, the objective of this clinical trial is to both qualitatively and quantitatively assess how surgeons integrate the objective measures and visual aids of the Intervention with the systematic subjective assessment in order to determine decisions surgery.
Suprazygomatic Maxillary Nerve Block in Cleft Palate Outcomes
Cleft Palate ChildrenIncreased pain after cleft palate surgery is the leading cause of increased hospital length of stay, delayed oral intake, readmission, and respiratory compromise. The goal is to improve all outcomes by identifying the most effective evidenced-based method of intra-operative pain control.
Bone-borne Palatal Expander With Corticotomy for Cleft Palate Patients
Cleft PalateThe tooth-borne palatal expander has limitations in the subset of patients with scarred, constricted cleft palate. At times, although posterior expansion is successful, transverse expansion of the anterior palate (near the alveolar cleft) is inadequate. Will the application of bone borne palatal expander combined with a corticotomy be more effective in the expansion of the constricted maxilla in cleft palate patients?
Suprazygomatic Nerve Block vs Surgical Site Infiltration in Cleft Palate Repair
Cleft Palate ChildrenBlockThe aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and duration of effect of bupivacaine given preoperatively as a bilateral suprazygomatic maxillary nerve block and to compare it with peri-incisional infiltration with the same agent for perioperative analgesia in children undergoing cleft palate repair.
Low Level Laser in Isolated Cleft Palate Repair Versus Surgical Correction Without LLL in Healing...
Cleft Palate ChildrenLaserDoes the use of low level laser (LLL) after surgical correction of cleft palate improve healing and decrease incidence of oronasal fistula?
Phase II Study of Dietary Cholesterol for Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome
Smith-Lemli-Opitz SyndromeOBJECTIVES: I. Examine the intestinal absorption of dietary cholesterol in patients with Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome. II. Measure the effect of dietary cholesterol on plasma sterol composition. III. Quantify basal cholesterol synthesis, turnover of cholesterol and 7-dehydrocholesterol, and the effects of dietary cholesterol on these parameters. IV. Identify fecal bile acid excretion quantitatively and qualitatively in these patients. V. Compare the incorporation of deuterated water into plasma cholesterol, 7-dehydrocholesterol, and other intermediates, and assess the effect of dietary cholesterol on this incorporation.
Tympanometric Analysis in Cleft Palate
Bilateral Complete Cleft Lip and/or AlveolusPurpose: Characterize the profile of tympanometric patients with cleft lip and palate in the post surgery period and correlate it with the time of palatoplasty. Methods: The sample consisted of 16 patients with cleft lip or palate totaling 32 ears treated at a Public University Hospital in Cuiabá (MT)- Brazil, in the post surgery moment that varied from three months to 33 years. Were sampled patients of both sexes, pediatrics and adults.
Peripheral Nerve Block Techniques During Cleft Palate
Postoperative PainRegional blocks are commonly used in pediatric anesthesia to achieve adequate postoperative analgesia. Suprazygomatic Maxillary nerve block (SMN) and Greater Palatine nerve block (GPN) are regional blocks described for use during cleft palate (CP) repair surgery. The aim of this study was to compare the analgesic effect as well as the incidence of complications associated with the use of bilateral GPN and bilateral SMN blocks in children undergoing palatoplasty surgery.
