SimpleC Wellness Platform With Social Robot Interaction (Long-term)
EngagementPatient7 moreThis study will be conducted to test a Socially-Assistive Robot (SAR) system for residents in an Assisted Living environment. The goal of the SAR system is to enhance social engagement and connectedness. The system engages residents via robot-facilitated activities such as trivia and reminder and is integrated with the SimpleC Wellness Platform.
Care Partner-Assisted Diabetes Self-Management Through Linking Continuous Glucose Monitoring With...
Type 2 DiabetesMild Cognitive ImpairmentEligible older adults with Type 2 Diabetes-Mild Cognitive Impairment (T2D-MCI) will be provided a Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) device and asked to share CGM data with their care partners for daily decision-making for diabetes self-management. After 2 weeks, individual interviews will be conducted in 20 participants (10 dyads). Older adults with T2D-MCI (n=10) and their care partners (n=10) will be interviewed separately to identify key features of the Care Partner-Assisted Intervention through linking continuous glucose monitoring and Mobile Health (CP-CGMH) app.
Neurophysiology Biomarkers of Cognitive Impairment Associated With Deep Brain Stimulation
Parkinson DiseaseThe study aims to investigate cognitive impairment associated with Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) in Parkinson's Disease patients, with a focus on identifying neurophysiology biomarkers of DBS associated cognitive changes. Using neurophysiology data recorded during DBS surgeries and post-implantation, the research intends to identify biomarkers in order to optimize electrode placement, enhance programming, and ultimately minimize DBS-related cognitive side effects.
Investigating the Neural Correlates of Cognitive Function in Psychosis Patients and Non-Psychiatric...
Psychotic DisordersCannabis Use Disorder6 moreCognitive impairment is well established in people with psychosis and is associated with cannabis use. The current study will investigate the neurobiological basis of cognitive change associated with 28-days of cannabis abstinence in people with psychosis and non-psychiatric controls with cannabis use. Participants will be randomized to a cannabis abstinent group or a non-abstinent control group and will undergo magnetic resonance imaging at baseline and following 28-days of abstinence. This study will help characterize the neuropathophysiological processes underlying cognitive dysfunction associated with cannabis use and its recovery which may guide the development of novel interventions for problematic cannabis use.
iTBS rTMS in Mild Cognitive Impairment
Mild Cognitive ImpairmentThe purposes of this research are to test whether it is feasible to administer a treatment protocol called intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and to test whether iTBS rTMS treatments can improve memory in mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
Testing Ramipril to Prevent Memory Loss in People With Glioblastoma
GlioblastomaRadiotherapy; Complications2 moreThis study is to determine if an oral drug called Ramipril can lower the chance of memory loss in patients with glioblastoma getting chemoradiation. Patients will take Ramipril during chemoradiation and continue until 4 months post-treatment. Memory loss will be assessed using several neurocognitive tests throughout the duration of the study.
Electrical Brain Stimulation for Cognitive Impairment in Schizophrenia: a tDCS-fMRI Study
SchizophreniaCognitive ImpairmentThe purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanism of action of transcranial electrical brain stimulation over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex for cognitive impairment in schizophrenia. To do so the effect of a novel stimulation protocol will be investigated in the fMRI scanner.
Shared Decision Making About Medication Use for People With Multiple Health Problems
PolypharmacyDementia3 moreThe Shared Decision Making about Medication Use for People with Multiple Health Problems study will assess the feasibility and acceptability of a deprescribing educational intervention in primary care for patients with mild cognitive impairment or dementia and/or multiple chronic conditions (MCC), the patients' care partners, clinicians, and medical assistants. The intervention consists of the following strategies: 1) a patient/caregiver component focused on education and activation about deprescribing, and 2) a clinician component focused on increasing clinician awareness about options and processes for deprescribing in the MCI/dementia and/or MCC population. Clinicians will each be asked to participate in a single, 15-minute educational session on deprescribing, and medical residents will receive a 45-minute lecture. Patients, caregivers, clinicians, and medical assistants will participate in a single one-on-one debriefing interview.
The SINgapore GERiatric Intervention Study to Reduce Cognitive Decline and Physical Frailty (SINGER)...
Cognitive ImpairmentAlzheimer Disease8 moreA study in Finland found that a multidomain intervention of physical activity, nutritional guidance, cognitive training, social activities and management of vascular risk factors slowed cognitive decline in healthy older adults at increased risk of cognitive decline. A 6-month pilot study was initiated in Singapore, which demonstrated the cultural feasibility and practicality of the FINGER interventions and a set of locally adapted interventions in an Asian population. The SINGER study is a 2-year randomized controlled trial that aims to test the efficacy and safety of these lifestyle changes, including diet and cardiovascular risk factor management, cognitive and physical exercises, in delaying cognitive decline in older adults at risk of dementia.
PRIMA Intervention for Adults With Mild Cognitive Impairment and Their Caregivers
Mild Cognitive ImpairmentThe investigators developed and tested the Daily Engagement in Meaningful Activities (DEMA) intervention to improve life satisfaction and health outcomes for patients and caregivers. DEMA is a positive health focused, theoretically grounded, tailored, family-centered, multi-faceted intervention. Over 7 session, dyads work with a nurse to 1) identify meaningful activities, assess capacity, problem-solve barriers, and establish routines for engagement and 2) learn more about MCI by working through six Self-Management Toolkit topics (e.g., benefits of meaningful activity; planning the future). The investigators' purpose is to evaluate the efficacy of DEMA in a two-group randomized controlled trial with 200 patient/caregiver dyads (DEMA intervention vs. the information support (IS) attention control group).
