Follow-Up Phone Calls After Colorectal Surgery

Colorectal SurgeryColorectal Neoplasms4 more

The purpose of this study is to assess if follow-up telephone calls after colorectal surgery affects a patient's satisfaction, the outcome of their surgery, and their quality of life. In addition, readmissions, complications and emergency room visits can be tracked via these telephone calls, ensuring optimal communication between patients and the surgical office.

NBI With Magnification for Dysplasia Detection in Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative Colitis

The purpose of the study is to determine whether a new colonoscopic viewing technique called narrow band imaging (NBI) helps doctors detect more patients with at leat one pre-cancerous area (dysplasia associated lession or mass, MALMs) than conventional colonoscopy using white light alone.

Korea Post-marketing Surveillance for Xeljanz (Registered) in Ulcerative Colitis Patients

Ulcerative Colitis

As required for new medications approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, safety and efficacy information should be provided for a minimum of 90 patients treated in the setting of routine practice during 4 years following approval (until 19 September 2022). Out of all the enrolled patients, at least 18 cases (20%) will be followed up until the 52nd week to see the long term safety of Xeljanz.

A Real-world Study of Imraldi® Use

ArthritisRheumatoid (RA)6 more

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate candidate predictors of persistence on adalimumab (Imraldi®) participants diagnosed with immune-mediated inflammatory disease in Europe (EU). The secondary objectives of this study are to describe participant clinical characteristics at baseline, utilization of Imraldi® over time, biologic drug effectiveness over time, participant satisfaction with biologic administration, routine laboratory values and clinical evaluation measurements over time, use of relevant concomitant medication use over time, immunogenicity of biosimilars and to summarize safety events.

Ulcerative ColitisAnti TNF Therapy1 more

BACKGROUND: Previous studies of short-term surgical outcomes after preoperative exposure to anti-TNF therapy in ulcerative colitis (UC) patients who have undergone IPAA have been conflicting. We sought to determine whether preoperative exposure to anti-TNF therapy affects histological measures of fibrosis in the colorectum, which may be a potential factor in adverse anastomosis complications following IPAA surgery. METHODS: Individuals who received infliximab as maintenance therapy and who received their last dose within 180 days of the first stage of IPAA were selected. The control group comprised UC patients who were not exposed to anti-TNF therapy, matched by age, sex, BMI, disease duration, albumin levels, and post-operative leak outcome. Hematoxylin and eosin- (H&E) and trichrome-stained slides from the most distal, well-oriented, full-thickness section of colorectum from each patient's total colectomy specimen were evaluated. Blinded assessment of the degree of fibrosis in the lamina propria, the submucosa, the submucosa immediately adjacent to the muscularis propria, and the subserosa was performed by a single observer using a semi-quantitative pictorial scale.

Proteomic Analysis of Crohn's Disease Macrophages in Response or Not to AIEC

Crohn's DiseaseUlcerative Colitis

The M2iSH laboratory showed with two previous clinical trials that Crohn's Disease (CD) macrophages present i) a defect to control Adherent-Invasive Escherichia coli (AIEC) infection related to polymorphisms associated with CD; ii) a CD - specific cytokine secretion profile after an AIEC infection and intestinal inflammation dependent; iii) a modification of the response of CD macrophages at a basal state and after the AIEC infection. These results consolidate the hypothesis of a defect specific to CD macrophages. That's why, the primary purpose of this study is to realize a proteomic analysis of macrophages of CD patients infected or not with AIEC and to compare them to Ulcerative Colitis (UC) patients and healthy volunteers.

Surveillance in Ulcerative Colitis: Narrow Band Image Versus Chromoendoscopy for High-risk Groups...

Ulcerative ColitisDysplasia

The risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) is increased in patients having ulcerative colitis (UC). Patients with long-standing extensive colitis, concomitant primary sclerosing cholangitis, or previous history of dysplasia carry an exceptionally high risk of CRC and require regular and short-interval surveillance colonoscopy. Recent guidelines recommend surveillance colonoscopy based on target biopsy rather than random biopsy applying chromoendoscopy (CE) or narrow band image (NBI) technique in UC at risk for CRC. However, the diagnostic yield of NBI-based surveillance and CE-based surveillance is not extensively investigated in the high-risk UC population. The investigators aimed to compare the dysplasia detection rate of NBI with that of CE in UC patients with a high risk of CRC by performing a multicenter, randomized controlled trial.
