Fecal Biomarker Study for Patients With Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative ColitisThe present study will analyze fecal levels of FC and FL in UC patients who relapse (flare) while on a QD or a BID Asacol treatment regimen and compare those levels to levels of FC and FL in UC patients who do not relapse (flare).
Golimumab Trough Levels in Patients With Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative ColitisProactive therapeutic drug monitoring of Anti-TNFs with drug titration to a therapeutic window is associated with favorable long-term therapeutic outcomes in IBD and may be superior to reactive therapeutic drug monitoring. Moreover, many exposure-response relationship studies have shown that higher serum anti-TNF drug concentrations are associated with better clinical outcomes in IBD, suggesting that it is maybe time to go from a 'treat-to-target' to a 'treat-to trough' therapeutic approach. In this scenario, there are very limited data regarding therapeutic drug monitoring with golimumab in UC and even no data regarding a therapeutic window to target for important objectives outcomes like mucosal healing and histological remission.

Thermography in Surveillance of Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative ColitisUlcerative colitis represents a chronic condition occurring in relapsing and remitting fashion with uncertain outcome and requires lifelong treatment with considerable side effects. Diagnostic methods currently in use, clinical (endoscopy), imaging (CT, MR) or laboratory (C - reactive protein, fecal calprotectin) give an insight into disease activity but are possibly associated with significant discomfort for the patient and / or increased risk of irradiation and potential allergic reactions on contrast agents. For that reason there is a need for a noninvasive, biologically inert method for evaluation of disease activity in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Thermography possesses most of these characteristics. The aim of this study is to find potential link between pathological thermographic signs and endoscopic findings, serum C reactive protein (CRP) and calprotectin in the stool of patients with active and extensive ulcerative colitis.

Follow-Up Phone Calls After Colorectal Surgery
Colorectal SurgeryColorectal Neoplasms4 moreThe purpose of this study is to assess if follow-up telephone calls after colorectal surgery affects a patient's satisfaction, the outcome of their surgery, and their quality of life. In addition, readmissions, complications and emergency room visits can be tracked via these telephone calls, ensuring optimal communication between patients and the surgical office.
