Comparative Study of Laparoscopic Versus Open Operations for Colon Cancer
Colonic NeoplasmsThe purpose of this study is to compare the short and long term outcomes of people who have colon cancers removed either by laparotomy (a large cut in the abdominal wall) or by a laparoscopic assisted approach (keyhole surgery). This study involves 37 credentialled surgeons in 20 approved hospitals across Australasia and during the recruitment period (Jan 1998 to March 2005) 601 patients were recruited into the ALCCaS Trial.

Telomere Length in Predicting Toxicity in Older Patients With Stage III-IV Colorectal Cancer Undergoing...
Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of the ColonMucinous Adenocarcinoma of the Rectum10 moreThis pilot research trial studies telomere length in predicting toxicity in older patients with stage III-IV colorectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Studying samples of blood from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and predict how well patients will respond to treatment.
Quadratus Lumborum Block Versus Transversus Abdominis Plane Block in Patients Undergoing Left Hemicolectomy...
Colon NeoplasmSurgery2 moreThe enhanced recovery after surgery and laparoscopic approach have been proven beneficial in surgery of the colon. However, patients have still pain, nausea and vomiting postoperatively. Postoperative pain is an expected but undesirable effect after an operation. This study will compare Transabdominis Plane (TAP) Block and Quadratus Lumborum (QL) Block with the common postoperative treatment with enteral and parenteral analgesics.

Herbal Treatment to Improve Chemotherapy Delivery
Colon CancerThis study is designed to:(1) determine the efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) 'Tonifying Spleen and Kidney Sequential Regimen' (TSKSR) in improving the completion rate of 8-cycle CapeOX chemotherapy in patients with stage II (high-risk)& III colon cancer;(2) evaluate the efficacy of the TCM-TSKSR on adverse events of CapeOX chemotherapy and it's impact on patients' quality of life (QoL).A randomized,double-blinded,placebo-controlled clinical trial including seven centers will be conducted in Mainland China. The study will enroll patients with stage II (high-risk)& III colon cancer who have completed radical surgery and are going to receive CapeOX chemotherapy. All participants will receive chemotherapy as prescribed by their treating physicians and be randomly assigned to either concurrent use of TCM-TSKSR or placebo.
Targeted Polymeric Nanoparticles Loaded With Cetuximab and Decorated With Somatostatin Analogue...
Colon CancerColo-rectal CancerDue to the great toxicity of chemotherapeutic drugs to both the healthy and cancerous area, the efficient targeting could be of great benefit for a patient with advanced or metastatic tumors. Colorectal cells carry somatostatin receptors which make them a promising target for antitumor therapy since this would reduce side effects and increase drug delivery efficacy to the target site.
Combined Neoadjuvant Systemic and PIPAC Therapy (NASPIT) for Patients With Colorectal Peritoneal...
Metastatic Colorectal CancerPeritoneal Carcinomatosis1 morePressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) is a novel drug-delivery system developed to deliver, effectively and safely, small doses of cytotoxic agents into peritoneal tumor deposits. It is currently used for palliation and for down-staging of patients who are non-eligible for cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intra-peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of PIPAC used in neoadjuvant setting to enhance the response of patients with colorectal peritoneal metastasis when combined with neoadjuvant systemic therapy for patients eligible to CRS/HIPEC prior to planned surgery.
