This study will investigate the effectiveness of Polydextrose, a dietary fiber, at decreasing Colonic Transit Time and the gastrointestinal symptoms of Functional Constipation. One quarter of the subjects will receive 12 g of Polydextrose daily, one quarter will receive 8 g of Polydextrose daily, one quarter will receive 4 g of Polydextrose daily and one quarter will receive a placebo daily.

This was a randomized, double-blind, single-center, placebo-controlled, two-arm study. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of Momchilovtsi yogurt on: Improving intestinal digestion and bowl movement; Adjusting blood total Cholesterol and Triglycerides levels; Adjusting microbiological flora (Clostridium perfringens bacteria, Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium) in gastrointestinal tract; Adjusting short chain fatty acids (acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid) in in gastrointestinal tract.

The University of Nottingham have been developing new, non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques to image the bowel. Building on those studies the investigators want to study, in healthy volunteers, the effects of purging on the colon. The investigators plan two studies using their novel MRI techniques in healthy volunteers to demonstrate how doses of a preparation designed to clean the bowel alters small and large bowel water content and transit. The investigators will also define the changes induced in colonic microbiota and how these are linked to changes in transit and the structure of colonic contents. This experimental model is comparable to an episode of acute diarrhea, therefore this study will also improve their understanding of the effects of diarrhea on bowel physiology. Following from the above study, the investigators would like to extend this study on patients who have functional constipation and previously have not responded to conventional laxatives.

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the Bioequivalence, assess food administration on the Pharmacokinetics with naloxegol.

RATIONALE: Palliative therapy with octreotide may help patients who have bowel obstruction that cannot be removed by surgery to live longer and more comfortably. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of octreotide as palliative therapy in treating patients who have cancer-related bowel obstruction that cannot be removed by surgery.

RATIONALE: The use of endoscopy to place metal stents in the duodenum is less invasive than surgery for treating cancer-related duodenal obstruction and may have fewer side effects and improve recovery. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of endoscopic placement of metal stents in treating patients who have cancer-related obstruction of the duodenum.

Whether functional consumption is influenced by defecation postures is unclear. The investigators investigated effects of defecation postures on functional consumption.

This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind , placebo-controlled trail to investigate the safety and efficacy of subcutaneous methylnaltrexone for treating opioid-induced constipation in patients with advanced illness.

The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of freeze-dried, capsulized FMT and fresh FMT in adults with slow transit constipation.

Chronic functional constipation is a common digestive system disease, the incidence is increasing in recent years.It is reported that the occurrence and development of chronic functional constipation is closely related to imbalance of intestinal flora .Moreover,types and quantity of intestinal flora may be related to intestinal motility. Fecal microbiota transplantation as a new technology to rebuild intestinal flora has been used for several disease，but the clinical efficacy of chronic functional constipation by fecal microbiota transplantation needs to be further explored.
