Prognostic Impact of Increased Lymph Node Yield in Colorectal Cancer Patients With Synchronous Distant...

Colorectal Cancer Stage IVLymph Node Yield

The National Quality Forum has endorsed at least 12 lymph node yield (LNY) as a surgical quality indicator in colorectal cancer (CRC), but the prognostic value of adequate lymphadenectomy has rarely been investigated for CRC patients with distant metastatic disease.

Retrospective Analysis of Colorectal Cancer Screening Results

Colorectal CancerAdvanced Adenocarcinoma4 more

The purpose of this study is to retrospectively analyze colorectal cancer screening data of 40-74 year old population in Shipai Town, Dongguan City. In this study, the data of SDC2 Gene Methylation Test and Fecal Immunochemistry Test (Q-FIT) were screened from about 11,000 subjects who participated in Colorectal Cancer Screening in Shipai Town People's Livelihood Project from May 2021 to May 2022. Data from 822 subjects with positive SDC2 Gene Methylation Test and/or positive Fecal Immunochemistry Test (Q-FIT) results and with colonoscopy and/or pathological results were selected for retrospective analysis. This retrospective study evaluated the screening performance of SDC2 Gene Methylation Test and/or Fecal Immunochemistry Test (Q-FIT) for colorectal cancer using colonoscopy and/or pathological results as the clinical standard method.

Are Sporadic Colorectal Cancers in Young Distinct From Elderly?

Colorectal Neoplasms

In this study, the investigators compared and evaluated the clinicopathological and oncological characteristics of sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC) in young adults without genetic mutations associated with hereditary CRC syndrome and sporadic CRC in elderly individuals.

Prevalence and Topography of Adenomas in 40-49 Year Old Patients With a Family History of Colon...

Colorectal CancerColon Polyps1 more

Conflicting guideline recommendations for screening colonoscopy result due to scant data upon which to develop appropriate recommendations. No previous study has compared the prevalence of advanced adenomas or adenomas (any size) among 40-49 year old individuals with a first degree relative (FDR) with colorectal cancer (CRC) versus 40-49 year old average risk individuals with no family history of CRC. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of colon adenomas in 40-49 year old individuals and identify risk factors associated with the presence of advanced adenomas. This data will provide evidence to determine appropriate colon cancer screening guidelines in 40-49 year old persons with a family history of colon polyps or colorectal cancer.

Role of the MET Oncogene in Human Colorectal Cancer - A Translational Study

Colorectal Cancer

The MET oncogene is known to sustain the Trousseau's syndrome in murine experimental models, featuring association of carcinogenesis with a blood procoagulant disorder. MET is frequently overexpressed in colorectal cancer, a tumor where venous thromboembolism (VTE) may occur in association with poor prognosis, but the biological and genetic factors that cause VTE are still obscure. The Investigators propose to study whether in patients harboring a surgically resectable colorectal cancer the MET oncogene is expressed and may be associated with a blood thrombophilic condition that favors the onset of VTE. These data would have two main implications: (i) for the first time, a direct genetic link between the MET oncogene and a procoagulant disorder would be demonstrated in humans; (ii) the procoagulant alterations would have diagnostic/prognostic significance for the identification of patients at risk for poor outcome, and implementation of appropriate therapeutic protocols.

A Prospective Colorectal Liver Metastasis Database With an Integrated Quality Assurance Program...

Liver MetastasisColorectal Carcinoma

This prospective database has two main objectives; to evaluate the complication rates, 30-day and 90-day mortality from different surgical strategies for unresectable, borderline resectable or initially unresectable liver metastasis from colorectal cancer. to establish baseline quality parameters for different surgical strategies for unresectable, borderline and initially unresectable colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) patients.

CRC Screening Using mSEPT9 (Methylated Septin 9) in Chinese Population

Colorectal CancerAdenomatous Polyp of Colon3 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of the SEPT9 gene methylation assay in Colorectal cancer (CRC) high-risk population in Chinese hospitals using the opportunistic screening method. The trial plans to evaluate a Chinese domestic SEPT9 assay kit produced by BioChain (Beijing) Science and Technology Corporation, who is a close partner of Epigenomics AG, the producer for Epi proColon 2.0 CE.

CROSSROAD II: Activating Rural Clinics and Women With Disabilities to Improve Cancer Screening

Breast CancerCervical Cancer1 more

The goal of this project is to develop and pilot test an innovative approach for overcoming barriers to cancer screening among women with physical disabilities (WWD) in rural Oregon. Many studies have shown that people with disabilities receive fewer indicated cancer screening services and are more likely to have poor cancer-related outcomes, such as late stage at diagnosis, compared to those without disabilities.
