Perioperative Outcomes of Simultaneous Colorectal and Liver Resections

Colorectal Cancer MetastaticSurgical Procedure1 more

The use of a simultaneous resection in patients with synchronous colorectal liver metastases has increased over the past decades. However, it remains unclear when a simultaneous resection is beneficial and when it should be avoided. The objective of this retrospective study is therefore to compare the outcomes of a simultaneous resection for synchronous colorectal liver metastases in different settings, and to assess which factors are independently associated with unfavorable outcomes.

Enteropathogenic Escherichia Coli (EPEC): Does it Have a Role in Colorectal Tumourigenesis?

Enteropathogenic Escherichia Coli .Colorectal Carcinoma

Despite the characterization of many aetiologic genetic changes. The specific causative factors in the development of sporadic colorectal cancer remain unclear. This study was performed to detect the possible role of Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) in developing colorectal carcinoma.

Inclusion of Elderly Patients With Colorectal Cancer in Clinical Trials

Colorectal Cancer

Background: Inadequate representation of elderly cancer patients in randomized clinical trials (RCTs) leading to a lack of external validity thereby an uncertainty regarding benefit-risk balance of cancer treatment in elderly, especially chemotherapy. Hypothesis: The eligibility criteria explain only a part of the under-representation of elderly patients in trials. We make the assumptions that 1) Among the eligible, the invitation to participate in a trial and inclusion are inversely related to age, 2) Among the eligible, there are patients, practitioner, or organization factors that would explain the non inclusion of elderly patients. Objectives: 1) To assess, in elderly patients with colorectal cancer, the proportions of patients: eligible at least to one RCT invited to participate included 2) a) Compare proportions among elderly patients to those of the comparator group of "young" subjects (age ≥ 18 and <65 years) (added by amendment n°3 accepted 18/02/2014) b)To identify factors associated with the non-invitation and the non-inclusion in RCT. Material and methods: Study design: A multicentric prospective cohort survey Population: all patients aged 18 years or more (added by amendment n°3 - 02/2014) with a colorectal cancer followed in one of the participating centers. Data collection: At baseline: Patient characteristics (including SOCIO-demographic, oncologic and geriatric data) will be collected. Organization factors (e.g. clinical research team) will be collected. Follow-up: the patient will be followed for potential invitation and inclusion in one RCT. Reasons of non-invitation or non-inclusion will be assessed. Number of subjects needed: 696 (553 elderly patients and 143 "young" patients) Number of centers : 7 (added by amendment n°3 - 02/2014) Ethical aspects: each patient will give his oral informed consent. The International Review Board of Mondor Hospital (CPP Ile-de-France IX) gave its approval in December 2012.

Using Multimedia Approaches to Communicate Probabilities in Patient Decision Aids for Low-Literacy...

Colorectal Cancer

The goal of this research study is to compare how people who are 45-75 years old respond to 3 different versions of a program about screening tests for colorectal cancer. Researchers want to use this study as part of a long-term project to learn the best ways to communicate health information to patients.

Comparison of Diagnostic Accuracy for Predicting Histology of Colorectal Lesions

Colorectal Neoplasms

Chromoendoscopy (indigo carmine or acetic acid) and Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) could make accurate evaluation in predicting of invasive depth of colorectal neoplasia. NBI could be the first choice.

Influence of Tumor Associated Immunity on the Number of Lymph Node Retrieved After Colorectal Cancer...

Colorectal Cancer

Hypothesis of this study is that increased immunity of primary tumor affects the increased number of lymph node retrieved. This study investigates whether immunity-related cytokine expression on primary tumor, colonic mucosa, and serum is associated with the number of lymph node retrieved in colorectal cancer patients.

Medical Records Review to Describe the Patterns of KRAS Testing and Vectibix Use in Europe

Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

This non-interventional retrospective medical record review study will assess the prevalence of KRAS testing and the impact of the KRAS test result on patterns of Vectibix use in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) treated with Vectibix in selected European countries over 3 rounds. As the optimal use of Vectibix also requires accurate KRAS mutation testing, this study will also assess data from the laboratory that performed the KRAS test. The study will also monitor changes in the pattern of Vectibix treatment between the different rounds of the study.
