Patients' Guidance With Onco-Coaching and CANKADO on Systemic Chemotherapy for Metastatic Colorectal...

Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

This is a prospective, single arm, non-interventional project to evaluate the benefit/influence of individualized patient education and guidance with a web-based e-Health platform called CANKADO on patient reported outcomes (PRO) for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. The focus will be on patient reported outcomes (PRO), distress, Quality of Life (QoL), Global Health Status, complaints and therapy relevant decisions. All patients will be medically treated according to the standards. The experimental arm will include 40 patients. Those patients will receive one initial coaching before start of therapy. Further appointments for coaching will be scheduled depending on individual patient's need. During treatment period the patient is encouraged of joining therapy actively documenting his state of health and occurring health complaints via CANKADO to give the physician a better overview on the process of patient's health behaviour and preparing him for the next doctor-patient consultation.

Stool-based SDC2 DNA Methylation Test for the Detection of Colorectal Advanced Adenomatous Polyps...

Colorectal CancerColorectal Adenomatous Polyp1 more

The primary objective is to compare the performance of Stool-based SDC2 DNA Methylation Test and commercially available Fecal Immunochemical Test(FIT) , on the detection rate of advanced adenomatous polyps and colorectal cancer in Chinese population. Subjects with positive results in either test will receive colonoscopy. Lesions will be confirmed as malignant or precancerous by colonoscopy and histopathologic examination.

Data Collection of Patients Treated With the ColonRing™ for the Creation of Circular Compression...

DiverticulumColon11 more

The proposed study is a post marketing, observational, retrospective data collection intended to gather and record data on patients treated with the ColonRing™ device in routine clinical practice at a single center. The data will assist in further evaluating the performance of the ColonRing™ device in regards to the creation of a colorectal anastomosis. Hypothesis:The performance of the ColonRing™, determined by the rate of complications, will be within the acceptable range reported in the literature for alternative treatment modalities.

KRAS Mutation and Incidence of the Colorectal Carcinoma in Martinique Between 2007 and 2009

Colorectal Carcinoma

There is no data at present concerning the KRAS mutation in patients from Martinique with colorectal cancer. Despite the fact that the incidence of this disease continues to increase there is no recent data to confirm it. This study has a descriptive purpose, allowing a comparison of the population from Martinique to other populations. A study of incidence of colorectal cancer, overseen by the Association from Martinique for the Epidemiological Search on Cancer (AMREC), also leads to a better knowledge of the local characteristics of the colorectal cancer. These two descriptive characteristics of colorectal cancer in Martinique will be useful data for the health professionals to provide their patients better care.

A Longitudinal Investigation of Cognitive Function in Colorectal Cancer Patients

Colorectal Cancer

This is a prospective, longitudinal, controlled study of cognitive function and fatigue in patients with apparently localized CRC treated with adjuvant or neoadjuvant chemotherapy. In addition to following each patient over time (i.e. acting as their own control), a separate control group will consist of patients with early stage CRC (Stage A or B) who have had surgical resection of their tumour, but who do not require adjuvant chemotherapy, or patients with stage C CRC who have declined chemotherapy. Also included is a smaller sub-study of patients with limited metastatic CRC who are treated with more toxic chemotherapy To compare changes in cognitive function, as compared to baseline assessment, of patients with CRC who do, or do not, receive 5FU-based chemotherapy. The primary measures of cognitive function are the High Sensitivity Cognitive Screen (HSCS) & Coghealth™.

Impact of Microparticles on Postoperative Complications in Surgical Patients

NeoplasmHepatic2 more

Microparticles are cellular fragments which are released actively or passively under conditions of inflammation and stress. The impact of surgical operations on quantity and quality of microparticles remains unknown. In this observatory study we investigate quantitative and qualitative aspects of microparticles during cardiac and abdominal operations.

Utility of PET In the Pre-Operative Assessment of Patients With Hepatic Colorectal Metastases

Colorectal Carcinoma

This study aims to determine whether a test, called the PET scan, may be useful in determining if there are additional locations of cancer not otherwise detectable by other tests. The PET scan is a nuclear medicine imaging study that measures how much radioactive sugar is used by your tumor. The study will compare pictures of the cancer from the PET scan to other x-ray exams, such as a CT scan, as well as to what your doctors find at the time of surgery. If the study results show that the PET scan gives us a good idea of what is happening to the tumor, then it may be useful in deciding which patients with colorectal metastases to the liver should be operated on and what operation should be performed. Additionally, by comparing the results of PET scans with the other studies that will be performed as part of your care, we will try to determine which test best tells us which patient is most likely to benefit from surgery.
