Use of Disposable Spirometer for Recovery of Pulmonary Function

Postoperative Complications

We hypothesize that the addition of modified incentive spirometry to standard postoperative chest physiotherapy will be associated with faster return to baseline/predicted pulmonary function and fewer postoperative pulmonary complications in patients following laparotomy.

Quantifying the Venous Congestion Curve of a Tissue Oximetry Device

Post-Op ComplicationSkin Flap Necrosis

The purpose of this research study is to measure rate of decline and pattern of tissue oxygenation using the device, ViOptix T.Ox. ViOptix probes will be secured to the arm and hand. The recording process on the ViOptix machine will begin and obtain baseline StO2 levels for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, a blood pressure cuff will be inflated on one arm. This blood pressure cuff will be left inflated for 10-20 minutes. Every 2 minutes a pulse check or doppler exam will be performed at your wrist. Last, the cuff will be deflated and the you will be free to leave the study room.

The Effect of Deep Breathing Exercise and 4-7-8 Breathing Techniques on Anxiety and Quality of Life...

Postoperative Complications

Aim: This study aims to determine the effects of the deep breathing exercise and the 4-7-8 breathing technique applied to patients after bariatric surgery on their anxiety and quality of life. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted between January and June 2022 at Ankara Lokman Hekim Akay Hospital Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Clinic. The research was carried out using the pre-test post-test randomized controlled experimental research design with a control group. A total of 90 patients (30 patients in the deep breathing group, 30 patients in the 4-7-8 breathing group, and 30 patients in the control group) who met the research inclusion criteria were included in the study. While routine care was applied to the control group, 1 group was given deep breathing training, and the other group was given 4-7-8 breathing training. Personal Information Form, the Obesity-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire, Status, and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory were used for data collection. In the evaluation of the data, number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Kolmogorov Smirnov test, chi- square, dependent samples t-test, ANOVA, Tukey's test, Pearson Correlation analysis, and Cronbach's alpha Reliability Coefficient were used.

Hemodynamic and Respiratory Variations During Laparoscopic Surgery With and Without Deep Neuromuscular...

Intraoperative ComplicationsPostoperative Complications3 more

The goal of this study is to investigate the effect of depth of neuromuscular block (NMB) on global and regional (dependent versus nondependent) respiratory mechanics during laparoscopic surgery. Furthermore, we will investigate if the level of NMB influences intraoperative hemodynamic and cerebral oxygenation.

Major Abdominal SurgeryPerioperative Haemodynamic Monitoring4 more

Patients who are scheduled for: elective oesophageal tumour resection, total gastrectomy, pancreas resection, major vascular, total cystectomy will be recruited. To investigate effects of central venous pressure (CVP) and central venous saturation (ScvO2) guided fluid management on intraoperative haemodynamic parameters, volume and vasopressor requirement, and postoperative organ function and postoperative inflammatory response.

Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy With or Without Pelvic Drain Placement in Reducing Adverse...

Perioperative/Postoperative ComplicationsProstate Cancer

This randomized phase III trial studies robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) with pelvic drain placement to see how well it works compared to RALP without pelvic drain replacement in reducing adverse events after surgery in patients with prostate cancer.

Visits Versus Telephone Calls for Postoperative Care

SatisfactionPostoperative Complications1 more

The OPTIONs study is a randomized controlled, non-inferiority study to evaluate postoperative care using outpatient clinic visits versus telephone calls for women undergoing surgery for pelvic floor disorders. The primary outcome is patient satisfaction using the Surgical-Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (S-CAHPS) questionnaire provided by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Secondary outcomes include safety and cost analysis for patients' direct and indirect medical costs. Women who speak and understand either English or Spanish and planning to undergo an elective surgery for a pelvic disorder will be recruited. Baseline demographics, satisfaction, and cost analysis questionnaires will be acquired pre-operatively. Randomization will be assigned at the time of discharge from the hospital. Patients will either have scheduled clinic visits at 1-2 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3 months or telephone calls by a registered nurse at these same intervals. Questionnaires will be completed at 3 months for satisfaction and cost analysis.

Comparison of Quadratus Lumborum Block and Erector Spina Plane Block in Nephrectomy

PainPostoperative1 more

Postoperative pain is important due to the limitation of physical functions, delay in recovery of quality of life, long-term opiate use, length of hospital stay, increased care costs and early postoperative pain trigger chronic pain. It is associated with postoperative morbidity. Multimodal analgesia techniques with fascial plan blocks are frequently used. The investigators aimed to evaluate the effect of QLB2 and ESP on postoperative pain scores in nephrectomy surgery, total opiate consumption, initial analgesia requirement, additional analgesia consumption, patient and surgeon satisfaction.
