The Impact of Lymphedema on Breast Cancer Survivors
Breast CancerCancer Survivor2 moreRATIONALE: Gathering information from breast cancer survivors about lymphedema; its symptoms and their impact on shoulder, arm, and hand functioning; and quality of life may help doctors learn more about the disease. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying the impact of lymphedema on breast cancer survivors.
Modified Frailty Index for Minimally Invasive Distal Pancreatectomy
Postoperative ComplicationThis study aims to investigate the difference in postoperative complications according to the modified Frailty Index (mFI) in patients who underwent minimally invasive distal pancreatectomy for pancreatic tumors at the Asan Medical Center's Department of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery from 2005 to 2019. It also seeks to confirm the utility of mFI as a predictive factor for postoperative complications in frail patients in the future.
Enhanced Recovery After Surgery for SPK Transplantation Recipients
Transplant ComplicationDiabetic Nephropathy1 more108 patients underwent elective SPK surgery were randomly divided into ERAS group (E) and routine care group (T). The ERAS group was consisted of evidenced-based systematic optimization approaches, while the control group received routine care.
Machine Learning Modeling of Intraoperative Hemodynamic Predictors of Postoperative Outcomes
Perioperative/Postoperative ComplicationsMorbidity4 moreWith population aging and limited resources, strategies to improve outcomes after surgery are ever more important. There is a limited understanding of what ranges of hemodynamic variables under anesthesia are associated with better outcomes. This retrospective cohort study will analyze how hemodynamic variables during surgeries predict mortality, morbidity, Intensive Care Unit admission, length of hospital stay, and hospital readmission. The use of machine learning in a large, broad surgery population dataset could detect new relationships and strategies that may inform current practice, and generate ideas for future research.
Surgical and Oncologic Outcomes After Robotic Nipple Sparing Mastectomy and Immediate Reconstruction...
Postoperative ComplicationsRecurrence6 moreRobotic mastectomy with immediate reconstruction was introduced by Toesca et al. in 2015. Since then, several studies have reported the safety and feasibility of robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. However, most studies were conducted by single centers and had small samples. Furthermore, there is a lack of studies comparing surgical and oncologic outcomes between robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy and conventional nipple-sparing mastectomy. For this reason, this study evaluates surgical and oncologic outcomes of robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using international multi-center data.
SURgical Outcomes in COvid Patients - the SUROCO Multicenter Cohort Study (COVID-19)
Covid-19SARS-CoV24 moreOverall mortality of COVID-19 is variable and has been reported to be between less than 1% and 7%. Many authors around the world also reported data on hospitalization rate, need for intensive care unit (ICU) care and need for mechanical ventilation in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients. To provide anesthetic and surgical care to SARS-CoV-2 infected patients, many health workers have to organize surgical platforms, personal protections and in-hospital trajectories to prevent dissemination and cross-contamination. However, no data has been published on the surgical need of these patients, their postoperative outcomes and the impact they may have on the operating room. Postoperative outcomes in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients seem to be variable. Expected benefits from a surgical procedure may be different in this population if their postoperative mortality is higher than expected. The association between preoperative characteristics and postoperative outcomes in this population has to be better defined. There is a need to better quantify these and better inform use of surgical resources during a pandemic. To address this knowledge gap, the investigators propose to conduct a multicenter observational cohort study in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients undergoing a surgical procedure, as well as in those who have recovered from COVID-19.
Effect of Intravenous Dynastat on Postoperative Sore Throat
Sore ThroatPostoperative ComplicationsA postoperative sore throat (POST) after tracheal intubation is one of the most common postoperative problems causing dissatisfaction to participants, including sore throat, dry throat, cough, sputum, hoarseness and even dysphagia. Both nonpharmacological and pharmacological measures have been attempted to alleviate the incidence and severity of POST with variable success. Airway inflammation may be important in the pathogenesis of these symptoms in intubated participants but however, there was still no study to investigate the effect of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) for the prevention of POST. So, the investigators' study will be the first one to investigate if perioperatively intravenous (IV) Dynastat injection can be used as a new indication for POST prevention.
Impact of Perioperative Shedding of the Endothelial Glycocalyx on Short-term Postoperative Complication...
Robotic EsophagectomyThe aim of this study was to determine whether changes in serum levels of syndecan-1 before and after surgery, which is an index related to injury of the endothelial glycocalyx layer, are associated with postoperative short-term complications and mortality in patients undergoing robotic esophagectomy.
Preserving Left Colonic Artery During Radical Resection of Rectal Cancer
Postoperative ComplicationsProteinosisTo evaluate the feasibility and clinical significance of preserving left colonic artery in rectal cancer surgery. The investigators will focus on the effect of preserving left colonic artery during radical resection of rectal cancer on anastomotic leakage and oncology efficacy.
The Model for End-Stage Liver Disease Sodium (MELD-Na) Score in Non-cirrhotic Patients With Gastric...
Gastric CancerComplication,Postoperative3 moreGastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer worldwide. Gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy is still the most effective treatment modality, depending on the stage and location. Despite many radiological, surgical and anesthetic innovations, serious complications such as anastomotic leakage, intra-abdominal abscesses, wound complications are seen secondary to gastrectomy. Many clinical studies have been conducted to prevent and predict these complications. The Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score, in which bilirubin, international normalized ratio (INR) and serum creatinine values were used to determine surgical risks in patients scheduled for liver transplantation. Latter developed by adding serum sodium (Na) to the formula. The MELD-Na score is used to predict postoperative complications in non-cirrhotic patients because of its simple and easy calculation. Moreover, The Meld-Na score was later used to predict complications for surgical procedures other than liver surgery such as colorectal surgery. In this study, we aimed to investigate the importance of the Meld-Na score in predicting the perioperative and postoperative outcomes in patients with gastric cancer.
