Study of Drug Concentration of Ondansetron and Cefazolin in Mothers and Neonates
Pregnancy ComplicationsThis study proposes to look at the pharmacokinetics of two drugs (Cefazolin and ondansetron) given routinely to pregnant women who are planning to deliver via cesarean section. The investigators will evaluate the metabolism of both drugs by the pregnant woman, the placental transfer over time, and the subsequent metabolism of the transferred drug in the neonate.
Nulliparous Pregnancy Outcomes Study: Monitoring Mothers-to-be
PregnancyPregnancy ComplicationsForty percent of pregnant women in the United States are women who have never given birth. As a group, they sometimes have complications with their pregnancy, but there is no information from a previous pregnancy to identify who might have a problem. Very little research has been done with this group. The Nulliparous Pregnancy Outcomes Study: Monitoring Mothers-to-be (nuMoM2b) is collecting data from a diverse population of about 10,000 women who are having their first baby and are carrying only one baby. The women are enrolled early in pregnancy and undergo research assessments four times during their pregnancies. Data are collected through interviews, self-completed data forms, clinical measurements, ultrasound, and collection and storage of blood samples, urine samples, and fluid from the vagina and cervix. Some information comes from medical records. A subset of women may be asked to participate in substudies collecting information on sleep breathing, sleep patterns and quality, or other areas possibly related to birth outcomes. The goal of the research is to find ways to identify women in this group who might develop a problem with their pregnancy and use this information to improve the health of pregnant women and their babies in the future. The study is focusing on pregnancy problems like high blood pressure, babies that are born much too early and very small babies.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Infection in Pregnancy
Papillomavirus InfectionsPregnancy ComplicationsThe purpose of this study is to determine if maternal infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) is associated with pregnancy complications including spontaneous preterm delivery (sPTD), severe preeclampsia (PE), and poor fetal growth.
Use of Psychotropic Medications Among Pregnant Women With Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar DisorderPregnancy ComplicationsThe objectives of the proposed project are: To describe the patterns of mood stabilizer, antipsychotic, antidepressant, and anxiolytic prescriptions during pregnancy over a period of 12 years (2002-2014) in women aged 13 to 50 years who are diagnosed with bipolar disorder in Ontario. To identify the factors associated with use of antipsychotics, antidepressants, and antipsychotic-antidepressant polytherapy in pregnant women diagnosed with bipolar disorder. To assess the impact of antipsychotics, antidepressants, and antipsychotic-antidepressant polytherapy on the risk of maternal, neonatal, and labour and delivery outcomes in women with bipolar disorder. To assess the impact of antipsychotics, antidepressants, antipsychotic-antidepressant polytherapy on psychiatric readmission rates during the early postpartum period in women with bipolar disorder.
Dietary Patterns and Health Outcomes (Cardiovascular, Metabolic, Endocrine, Neurological, Skeletal...
Cardiovascular DiseasesCerebrovascular Disorders7 moreTo study, prospectively, the association between dietary patterns and risk of health outcomes (cardiovascular, metabolic, endocrine, neurological, skeletal muscular, cancer) in cohort study of 116,671 women age 24 to 44 years at baseline in 1989 (the Nurses' Health Study II; NHS II).
Endometriosis and Risk of Obstetric Complications
EndometriosisPregnancy ComplicationsThe aim of this study is to compare the rate of obstetric complications at first spontaneous pregnancy among women with endometriosis, with the rate of obstetric complications at first spontaneous pregnancy among women without endometriosis
Impact of Endometriosis on Pregnancy and Delivery - a Retrospective Cohort Study
EndometriosisPregnancy Complications3 morePurpose: To study the impact of endometriosis on subsequent pregnancy and delivery. Methods: retrospective analysis by questionnaire / interview of cases (endometriosis laparoscopically removed / child wish) vs. controls (endometriosis laparoscopically excluded / child wish) from the University Hospital Muenster, Germany, treated between 2009 and 2016; analysis of pregnancy rate, mode of delivery and complications using Clavien-Dindo-classification, role of deep infiltrating endometriosis using ENZIAN classification; data analysis using t-test with p < 0.050% being considered significant.
Health and Wellbeing of Pregnant and Post-Partum Women During the COVID-19 Pandemic
COVID-19Pregnancy Complications5 moreThe purpose of this study is to assess the health and wellbeing of pregnant and recently pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic using an online survey.
Lung Ultrasound Signs and Patterns in COVID-19 Pregnant Women
Pregnancy ComplicationsCovid19SARS-CoV-2 impact on pregnant women is not well known yet. Some authors demonstrated that lung ultrasound can give similar results if compared to chest computed tomography and better results if compared to chest x-rays without radiations and limited risks for mother and fetus. The Lung Ultrasound Score (LUS) can be used to asses the entity and monitor the evolution of lung impairment. Some authors described an artifact, the "light beam", as a typical ultrasound sign in COVID-19 positive patients. With our study we hypothesize to understand the prevalence of this sign and other ultrasound signs in pregnant COVID-19 positive patients.
