The Lupus prEGnAnCY Cohort: An International Prospective Cohort of Lupus Pregnancies

Systemic Lupus ErythematosusPregnancy Complications

The goal is to evaluate adverse pregnancy outcomes (APO), their predictors and potential preventive therapies, such as aspirin (ASA). The investigator aims to improve the outcomes for women with SLE and offsprings. By quantifying the risk of APO conferred by clinical risk factors that can be assessed early in pregnancy (i.e. first trimester), health professionals could be better equipped to estimate the individual risk of SLE pregnancies and the need for heightened surveillance and guide counseling for prophylactic measures, including ASA. Moreover findings from this study could eventually lead to the choice and weighting of first trimester clinical factors in future clinical prediction models for APO in SLE. The investigator's research efforts will improve reproductive health of SLE women, "mitigating the damage, functional loss, and disability that result from a chronic inflammatory disorder", such as SLE.

Fibroblast Growth Factor 23 and Hypertensive Disorder Complicating Pregnancy

HypertensionPregnancy-Induced

Hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy is a set of diseases of pregnancy coexisting with elevated blood pressure. The incidence of it is approximately 5-12%. Pregnancy-induced hypertension is a pregnancy-specific disorder, severely impairing both maternal and fetal health, and the major cause of maternal and perinatal mortality rate increased. But so far, the specific etiology is still unclear. Recently, fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) has emerged as key endocrine regulators of the metabolism of vitamin D and calcium and phosphorus by combining FGFR-α- Klotho receptor complex. Current studies showed that α- Klotho involved the development of gestational hypertension via the production of endothelial nitric oxide, angiogenesis, and the formation of antioxidant enzymes. On the other hand, vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy has an adverse impact on maternal and fetal health, including gestational hypertension. Therefore, the relationship of the expression of FGF23 and the development of gestational hypertension has attracted the attention of relevant scholars. The aim of this study is to detect the difference of the expression of FGF23 between the hypertensive women and normal pregnant women.

Safety, Testing/Transmission, and Outcomes in Pregnancies With COVID-19

Covid19Pregnancy Related5 more

Pregnant women are a vulnerable and high-risk population, as COVID-19 is associated with an increased risk preterm birth, cesarean section, and maternal critical care. This study will examine the factors that impede testing for SARS-CoV-2 (the causative virus among pregnant women), help determine optimal testing strategies by evaluating the necessity of testing for asymptomatic disease in pregnancy, inform prenatal care plans by assessing the full impact of infection, and contribute to a provider's ability to counsel women and create prenatal care plans if they are pregnant or considering pregnancy.

Association of Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy and Chronic Placental Inflammation

Cholestasis of Pregnancy

This observational prospective study will help to determine if an immune process similar to allograft rejection is responsible for the occurrence of an intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP). If so, it would suggest the potential benefit of immunomodulatory therapeutics.

NT-proBNP Levels in the Prediction of Intrapartum and Postpartum Events in Adult Congenital Heart...

Congenital Heart DiseasePregnancy Complications

The purpose of this study is to determine if NT-BNP levels obtained at time of admission for delivery are predictive of intrapartum or postpartum complications in patients with adult congenital heart disease.

Patients Pregnant Women With or Without Primary Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome

PreeclampsiaImmunologic Disease5 more

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the ability of placental angiogenesis markers to predict the risk of PE in pregnancy in women with primary APS. To construct reference intervals of placental angiogenesis markers specific to women affected by primary APS in pregnancy by measuring the levels of sFlt-1and PlGF in serum maternal serum and their sFlt-1/PlGF ratio during the trimesters of gestation (I TM, II TM and III TM). For this aim the study will involve recruiting two groups of subjects, one will be cases and one will be controls.

Survey Tool for Screening of Anemia in Women Before Pregnancy

Anemia Complicating PregnancyAnemia Complicating Childbirth1 more

The goal of this observational and cross-sectional study is to develop and validate a survey that can be used to identify anemia, and its severity, among pre-pregnant women allowing for the timely implementation of focused public health and personalized interventions. Participants will be asked 26 survey questions about menstrual history and provide a 5 ml venous blood sample to measure hemoglobin, ferritin, and transferrin saturation levels.

Remote Postpartum Intervention Targeting Movement Behaviors After Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy...

Hypertensive Disorder of Pregnancy

The purpose of this study is to test the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a postpartum physical activity intervention after a pregnancy complicated by a Hypertensive Disorder of Pregnancy. The study will also assess the effects of the remote postpartum intervention on blood pressure. To do this, we will recruit individuals that are 3-6 months postpartum a pregnancy complicated by a hypertensive disorder to participate in a 4-month health coaching intervention aimed to promote physical activity and was informed by formative work done previously.

The Heartland Study

Pregnancy RelatedPregnancy Complications5 more

The Heartland Study is a prospective, observational study that will enroll up to 2,600 pregnant participants across the Heartland States in the U.S.. The objective of the Heartland Study is to address major knowledge gaps concerning the health effects of herbicides on maternal and infant health. The study is being conducted to evaluate the associations between environmental exposures to herbicides during and after pregnancy and reproductive health outcomes. The study is measuring multiple biomarkers of herbicide exposure among pregnant Midwesterners and their partners to evaluate associations with pregnancy and childbirth outcomes, epigenetic biomarkers of exposure, and child development.
