Testing of a Tool to Elicit Patient Preferences for CTS

Carpal TunnelCarpal Tunnel Syndrome3 more

This study will complete a randomized controlled trial to quantitatively measure patient decisional conflict (Decisional Conflict Scale) in 150 patients treated for CTS with the tool compared to 150 patients treated with standard care. The investigators hypothesize patients treated for CTS will have lower decisional conflict with the tool.

Validity and Reliability of CTQ-SSS in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

To determine the validity and reliability of the shorter version of the CTQ-SSS in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) undergoing nonsurgical management.

Median Nerve Strain and Applied Pressure Measurement in the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Patients

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The aim of this study is to investigate diagnostic accuracy of median nerve strain and applied pressure measurement . Idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome patients and healthy controls will be evaluated by ultrasound. Median nerve strain, pressure applied to the skin will be measured at the proximal part of the carpal tunnel. The parameters will be compared between patients and controls, and before and after the open carpal tunnel release in the patients.

Transthyretin Cardiac Amyloidosis in Patients With Idiopathic Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Referred for...

Transthyretin AmyloidosisCarpal Tunnel Syndrome

This study will determine the prevalence of transthyretin amyloidosis in pathology of the transverse carpal ligament and cardiac involvement using natriuretic peptides, electrocardiography and echocardiography in patients referred for carpal tunnel release surgery of idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome. This study will describe the relationship between amyloid deposition observed on the transverse carpal ligament and the presence of cardiac involvement.

The KinematX Midcarpal Total Wrist Arthroplasty Registry

Scapholunate Advanced Collapse (SLAC)Scapholunate Crystalline Advanced Collapse (SCAC)11 more

The goal of this observational study is to learn about functional and patient reported outcomes in patient undergoing total wrist replacement with the KinematX total wrist replacement study. The main questions it aims to answer are: What is the range of motion (flexion, extension, radial, ulnar, grip and pinch strength) at 3-, 6-, and 12-months after surgery and yearly up to 10 years among patients having total wrist replacement with the KinematX implant. What are the patient reported outcomes (PROMIS, PRWE, HSS wrist expectations) at 3-, 6-, and 12-months after surgery and yearly up to 10 years among patients having total wrist replacement with the KinematX implant. How do range of motion and patient reported outcomes change over the 10 years after total wrist replacement surgery? Participants will be followed according to standard of care and preoperative and post-operative information for up to 10 years after surgery will be collected and entered into an electronic data base. Patients are eligible to enroll into the registry before or after they have had their wrist replacement surgery.

Predictive Value of Baseline CTQ-SSS Scores for Progression to Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery: A...

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This study aims to determine the predictive value of baseline CTQ-SSS scores for progression to carpal tunnel release (CTR) surgery in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). It will be a prospective cohort study involving at least 200 patients with CTS who are undergoing nonsurgical management. Participants will complete the CTQ-SSS and other functional measures at baseline, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months, and the primary outcome will be progression to CTR surgery. Logistic regression models will be used to assess the predictive value of baseline CTQ-SSS scores for progression to CTR surgery, adjusting for potential confounding factors such as age, sex, and baseline symptom severity. The results of this study can help clinicians identify patients who may benefit from early surgical intervention.

Median Nerve Function During Phalen's Test

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This study will use electromyography and nerve conduction studies to evaluate median nerve function during the Phalen's wrist flexion test in different wrist positions.

Refining the Interpretation of the Tinel's Sign for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This is an observational study to investigate the electromyographic (EMG) activity and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) of healthy individuals during the Tinel's Sign performed at different wrist positions. The study aims to identify the wrist position that best isolates median nerve activity during the Tinel's Sign.

Investigation of the Relationship Between Pain Sensitization and Diagnostic Parameters in Carpal...

Central SensitisationCarpal Tunnel Syndrome

The aim of this observational, cross-sectional study is to investigate the relationship between pain sensitization and ultrasonographic and nerve conduction studies in patients diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The main questions it aims to answer are: Can threshold values be determined ultrasonographically and electrodiagnostically in patients who develop pain sensitization? Are pressure pain threshold values and central sensitization inventory scores correlated with ultrasonographic and nerve conduction studies of the median nerve?
