Efficacy of Laser Acupuncture on Neurophysiological Parameters of Median Nerve in Postpartum Women...
Neurophysiologic AbnormalityBACKGROUND: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), the most common entrapment neuropathy of the upper extremity, is caused by compression of the median nerve as it travels through the carpal tunnel CTs is a very common complication found in pregnancy, which is reported as high as 62% in pregnant females. The functioning of median nerve is compromised in almost all pregnant females especially during the third trimester of pregnancy, the majority may still feel some symptoms up to 3 years after delivery. Many clinicians have used LLLT on acupuncture points, which is called laser acupuncture (LA), to treat many clinical problems, such as musculoskeletal pain, lateral epicondylitis, headaches, etc. In contrast with traditional acupuncture needles, LA is a non-invasive therapy that does not cause tingling/pain during procedures Objective: to determine efficacy of laser acupuncture on electrophysiological parameters of median nerve in postpartum women
Transvenous Approach for the Treatment of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformations
Arteriovenous MalformationsCerebral2 moreA new endovascular route for the treatment of brain AVMs may be possible in some cases: Trans-Venous Embolization (TVE). The technique uses microcatheters to navigate to the draining veins of AVM, to reach and then fill the AVM nidus retrogradely with liquid embolic agents until the lesion is occluded. This technique has the potential to improve on some of the problems with the arterial approach to AVM embolization, such as a low overall occlusion rate. However, by occluding the vein first, and filling the lesion with the embolic agent in a retrograde fashion, the method transgresses a widely held dogma in the surgical or endovascular treatment of AVMs: to preserve the draining vein until all afferent vessels have been occluded. Nevertheless, the initial case series have shown promising results, with high occlusion rates, and few technical complications. The method is increasingly used in an increasing number of centers, but there is currently no research protocol to guide the use of this promising but still experimental treatment in a prudent fashion. Care trials can be designed to offer such an experimental treatment, taking into account the best medical interests of patients, in the presence of rapidly evolving indications and techniques.
Hospital-Based Cluster Trial: Magnetically Controlled Growing Rods Using Distraction Intervals
Early-Onset Scoliosis Deformity of SpineA hospital-based cluster stratified randomization control study will be conducted to investigate spinal growth in Early Onset Scoliosis patients between 5 and 9 years of age. Patients must have a major coronal curve measuring over 50 degrees and be undergoing Magnetically Controlled Growing Rod treatment. We will be studying 6-week lengthening intervals compared to 16-week lengthening intervals on spinal growth within 3 years.

A Study to Examine the Effects of the Leptin Receptor (LEPR) Agonist Antibody REGN4461 in Adult...
Familial Partial LipodystrophyMetabolic AbnormalitiesTwo cohorts are being studied based on leptin levels. Cohort A is composed of patients with baseline leptin <8.0 ng/mL and Cohort B is composed of patients with baseline leptin 8.0 to ≤20.0 ng/mL The primary objectives will be evaluated for patients in Cohort A only: To evaluate the effect of REGN4461 on fasting triglycerides (TG) in patients with elevated baseline fasting TG To evaluate the effect of REGN4461 on hyperglycemia in patients with elevated baseline Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) The following secondary objectives of the study will be evaluated for Cohort B and for the combined set of Cohorts A plus B: To evaluate the effect of REGN4461 on fasting TG levels in patients with hypertriglyceridemia To evaluate the effect of REGN4461 on glycemic control in patients with hyperglycemia The following secondary objectives of the study will be evaluated for Cohorts A and B separately, and for the combined set of Cohorts A plus B: To evaluate the effect of REGN4461 on liver fat in patients with hepatic steatosis To evaluate the effect of REGN4461 on hunger To evaluate safety and tolerability of REGN4461 To characterize the concentration profile of REGN4461 over time To assess immunogenicity to REGN4461

Prospective Evaluation of the Efficacy of Sirolimus (Rapamune®) in the Treatment of Severe Arteriovenous...
Arteriovenous MalformationsThe aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sirolimus (oral form), to decrease the volume and symptoms due to superficial arteriovenous malformations (AVM). Sirolimus has properties that reduce the activity of the immune system (immunosuppressant), to fight against the proliferation of cancer cells (anti- tumor) and also reduce the proliferation of blood vessels (anti -vascular). Sirolimus is primarily used in transplant patients to prevent organ transplant rejection. Many animal and laboratory studies were carried out and demonstrate in particular the activity of sirolimus on vessels. It is this anti- vascular effect that could help treat arteriovenous malformations.
Remotely Monitored and Coached Cardiac Rehabilitation Northern Sweden
Heart DefectsCongenitalSupervised exercise is an essential component of contemporary center-based cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programs. Despite the proven effectiveness, uptake and adherence to supervised exercise-based CR (exCR) remains suboptimal (approximately 50%), especially in rural and remote areas of Sweden. The main reasons for low participation rate in centre-based exCR are different accessibility barriers i.e. long distances, transportation problems or employment commitments. In this randomised clinical trial, the overall aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of, home-based, remotely monitored and coached exCR using the REMOTE-CR system compared to home-based exCR based on individualized information regarding current exercise recommendations but without monitoring and coaching (usual care) to improve exercise capacity. Our hypothesis is that remotely monitored and coached exCR will improve exercise capacity to a greater extent than home-based exCR without monitoring and coaching (usual care).
