Comparison of Effectiveness of Home Based Sensory Interventions Along With Standard Therapy Versus...

Autistic Children With Sensory Processing Abnormalities

Around 69-95% of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder are known to have sensory processing abnormalities .Tackling these problems would help in better quality of life, both for the parents and the children. Sensory integration therapy, an individualized clinic based therapy have been shown to have a positive effect on those children with sensory abnormalities. Hence the investigators are doing this study , to primarily look into the efficacy and feasibility of home based sensory interventions in autistic children with sensory processing abnormalities.

Effectiveness of Deep Dry Needling on Muscle Tone in Healthy Subjects

Muscle Tone Abnormalities

The main objective of this study is to analyze the effect of dry needling of the soleus muscle to modulate muscle tone in healthy non-injured subjects. The secondary objective is to study if effects occur due to changes in the neural or mechanical component (or both). Hypothesis: Deep Dry Needling of the latent medial Myofascial Trigger Point (MTrP) of the soleus muscle produces changes in muscle tone varying the passive resistance torque at a rate of 180º/ s.

Pilot Study of Efficacy of Nail Gel in Finger Nail Surface Abnormality

Nail Abnormalities

Nail surface abnormalities is any conditions that affect the nail matrix or nail bed which cause nail plates grow defectively. Common nail surface abnormalities are pitting nails, longitudinal ridging, and transverse ridging/Beau's line. Aging nails usually have nail surface abnormalities as well. Nail gels are artificial nails used widely for aesthetic purposes. Although, their cosmetic use is increasing with day by day, their usefulness in conditions such as nail biting, brittle nails, and ingrown toe nails has been reported. Moreover, a previous study reported the benefits of nail gels in terms of improving nail surface abnormalities like pitting nails, trachyonychia, and onychoschizia. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of nail gel containing Glycerin which has humectant effect and Artemisia Abrotanum extract which has anti-fungal/bacterial activities in finger nail surface abnormalities.

Electrosclerotherapy for Capillary Malformations

Capillary MalformationsVascular Malformations

Capillary malformations (port-wine stains) consist of abnormally developed capillary blood vessels in the skin. To date, laser therapy is the only widely accepted treatment modality for capillary malformations, but this therapy has a suboptimal effect in approximately 50-60% of patients. Intralesional bleomycin injections (sclerotherapy) are a common effective treatment option for vascular malformations with blood vessels with larger diameters. However, bleomycin cannot be injected adequately in the small sized vessels of capillary malformations. The use of an electric field over the tissue (electroporation) may solve this problem: it increases cell membrane permeability and therefore promotes localized delivery of drugs, within (endothelial) cells. Electroporation in combination with bleomycin sclerotherapy ('electrosclerotherapy') may therefore offer new therapeutic options for capillary malformations. This proof of principle study aims to explore the effectiveness, safety and feasibility of this potential treatment option in a within-patient-controlled pilot study.
