Impact of Early Intervention on Maternal Stress in Mothers of Fetuses Diagnosed With Single Ventricle...

Heart DefectsCongenital4 more

This study evaluates maternal psychological distress and the impact of early palliative care team consultation on maternal anxiety and depression symptoms, coping, and quality of life/family functioning in the care of neonates born with single ventricle physiology. Half of the participants will receive early palliative care team consultation, while the other half will receive usual care (no or late palliative care intervention). The investigators hypothesize maternal stress, anxiety, and depression will be lower in the palliative care intervention group compared with the control group, and maternal coping mechanisms and perceived quality of life and family functioning will improve at the pre-discharge assessment.

Transphyseal Vs. Physeal Sparing ACL Reconstruction in Skeletally Immature Patients: Risk of Subsequent...

ACL Reconstruction

To assess the risk of lower extremity angular growth deformity following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions in young patients who are not yet skeletally mature. The study will compare two surgical techniques (physeal sparing vs transphyseal).

Influence of Sagittal Imbalance of the Spine on Gait Pattern in Adult Spinal Deformity

Adult Spinal Deformity

This study intends to investigate the changes in gait pattern in adult spinal deformity (ASD) patients with sagittal imbalance. It will investigate the gait kinematics in patients who have a mismatch of their spinopelvic parameters, and a positive sagittal balance. The investigators hypothesise that patients with abnormal spinopelvic parameters may demonstrate a pathological gait pattern.

Fertility After Diagnosis and Management of Acquired Uterine Arteriovenous Malformation

Arteriovenous Malformations

Uterine arteriovenous malformations (UAVM) are short circuits between systemic arterial and venous networks within the uterus. They are congenital or acquired (in the course of an endo-uterine gesture such as curettage or interventions such as caesareans or myomectomies). They can be manifested by severe metrorrhagia that can go as far as to put the patient's vital prognosis at risk. There are no recommendations for the management of UAVM since this pathology is rare and therefore series are performed with few cases. If some of these UAVM disappear spontaneously after a therapeutic abstention, when the clinical context allows it, in case of symptomatic UAVM, a selective embolization with arteriography is often carried out to postpone the hysterectomy of hemostasis. There are also more marginal management options such as Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone agonists, methotrexate or curettage that are decided on a case by case basis depending on the symptoms and protocols of each medical team. Regarding subsequent fertility and pregnancy outcomes after conservative treatment, the number of studies is even lower.

Anomalies in Glucose MetabolismCoronary Artery Bypass Graft

The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of diabetes and non-diabetic glucose metabolism anomalies (glucose intolerance, non-diabetic fasting hyperglycaemia in patients about to undergo coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). In addition, the effect of these anomalies on post CABG morbi/mortality in the short term will be evaluated.

Comparative Study for Incidence of Proximal Junctional Kyphosis Between Parathyroid Hormone and...

Spine Deformity

Medical therapy that can lower PJK rates are also being sought. Teriparatide (TP), a recombinant human parathyroid hormone (PTH 1-34), is a bone forming agent mainly used to treat osteoporotic patients with high risk of osteoporotic fracture. There has been reports suggesting protective effect of prophylactic TP to osteoporotic patients receiving ASD surgery concerning PJK.6 Although it had limitations of small sample size and surgical selection bias owing to study design being retrospective. We hypothesized prophylactic TP would act as to reduce the incidence of PJK and therefore reduce PJF and necessity of revision surgeries in patients after ASD correction surgery. Our study can consolidate the beneficial effect of prophylactic TP to patients receiving ASD surgery by reducing the incidence of PJK.
