Examining the Cognitive Benefits of Cardiac Rehabilitation in People With Heart Failure (The CHF...

Heart Failure

People with heart failure may experience problems with cognitive function, including memory and attention. Cardiac rehabilitation, which is an individualized program for heart failure patients that aims to improve their heart health, may also improve cognitive function. This study will examine the relationship between heart failure and cognitive function and how undergoing cardiac rehabilitation affects cognitive function in older adults with heart failure.

Cognitive Impairment in Patients With Heart Failure

Heart FailureCognitive Impairment

The aim of the present study is threefold: investigating 1) specific cognitive impairments in patients with congestive heart failure, 2) whether cognitive impairments in patients with decompensated heart failure improve after medical recompensation and 3) whether cognitive functioning is related to the long-term prognosis (mortality, rehospitalisation) of those patients.

Changes in the T-wave Alternans in Patients With Heart Failure Treated Wih Sacubitril-Valsartan...

Heart Failure

The aim of this study is to know if the Sacubitril-Valsartan treatment improves the T-wave alternans in those patients that begin its treatment, which would indirectly show a lower risk of malignant ventricular arrythmias.

Prevalence of Amyloidosis in Heart Failure (PREVAMIC)

Heart Failure

TITLE: Study of Prevalence of Amyloidosis in Heart Failure: PREVAMIC. DESIGN: Multicenter, observational, cross-sectional, prospective, cohort study with a one-year follow-up. 44 hospitals from Spain will participate. OBJECTIVES. PRIMARY: To estimate the current prevalence of different types of cardiac amyloidosis (CA) in patients with heart failure, aged 65 years and older, with LVH > 12 mm and any LVEF value, managed in Internal Medicine departments. SECONDARY: To describe the clinical, laboratory and echocardiographic features of patients with CA. To compare one-year readmissions and mortality rates in patients with and without CA. INCLUSION CRITERIA: Inpatients or outpatients with heart failure, aged ≥ 65 years, both genders, under the care of internists. They should have a NYHA Class II-IV, echocardiogram performed in the previous 24 months, any value of LVEF, LVH: septum or posterior wall > 12 mm, diuretic treatment in the last 6 months and NTproBNP> 1800 pg/ml or BNP> 400 pg/ml in acute hear failure, or NT-proBNP >600 pg/ml o BNP >150 pg/ml in stable condition. POPULATION: Heart failure outpatients or inpatients of Internal Medicine Services. It is expected to include around 450 patients. ANALYSIS: To calculate the prevalence of TTR-CA and other types of CA. To compare the clinical, analytical, echocardiographic, and readmissions and mortality rates during one-year in patients with and without CA.

Interactive Patient's Assistant - LUCY

Chronic Heart Failure

Patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and reduced left ventricle ejection fraction benefit from cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Currently used devices, besides delivering low and high-energy therapies, record patient's activity and many hemodynamic parameters. However, increasing numbers of patient with CRT and ICD devices produce overload of cardiology centers where patients are admitted to ambulatory visits. Contrarily, there are technological possibilities for remote monitoring proven to be effective in recognizing damage of the implanted device and risk of exacerbation of chronic heart failure. Patients' registries show that majority of ambulatory visits are unproductive and do not result in significant modification of device's parameters. Promising experiences with application of data mining and machine learning techniques allow us to assume probable benefits from using modern methods of data analysis in determination of requirement for ambulatory follow-up on basis of data gathered through telemonitoring and clinical assessment of a patient. Aim of the study is to find multivariate model predicting the requirement for ambulatory follow-up of IECD.

Advanced Care Management in Patients With Advanced Heart Failure

Advanced Heart Failure

The purpose of this study is to explore the trajectory of advanced management care in patients with heart failure over a period of 9 months, then comparing the medical treatment accepted by patients after 2 years later and compliance with the preferences of patients and their families.

The Relationship Between Pericardial Fat Thickness and Arterial Stiffness in HFpEF Patients

Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) was considered as a heterogeneous disease with multi-organ and multi-system design, which is related to various complications, such as hypertension, obesity and arteriosclerosis. Studies have found that hypertension and obesity are respectively associated with increased arterial stiffness. However, there is still no research investigating the the relationship between blood pressure and arterial stiffness in HFpEF patients with different levels of obesity.
