Connective Tissue Disease Patients With Pulmonary Hypertension

Connective Tissue DiseasesPulmonary Hypertension

Adult patients with suspected or confirmed Connective Tissue Disease Patients (CTD)With Pulmonary Hypertension(PH)will be recruited. Patients will be approached, consented, have baseline demographics, diagnostics and disease activity measures recorded, and blood taken. The collection of data and biological material will mirror usual clinical practice as far as possible. Subjects will ideally attend further visits at 3, 6 and 12 months to have bloods taken, outcome measures recorded and questionnaires completed.

Role of Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Fat Grafting

Romberg's DiseaseCraniofacial Microsomia2 more

Contour deformity of face causes both functional as well as aesthetic problems for the patient. Fat being an autologous tissue source is considered as an ideal soft-tissue filler because it is abundant, readily available, inexpensive, host compatible, and can be harvested easily and repeatedly. However absorption of grafted fat is a major problem resulting in lack of consistency of final clinical outcome. Adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells have the potential to enhance the viability of the grafted fat and the reliability of the final outcome of surgery. In the current study potential of mesenchymal stem cells will be studied by comparing two groups of patients requiring fat grafting for contour deformities of face. Control group will have fat graft with out enrichment with stem cells whereas experimental group will have their fat graft enriched with mesenchymal stem cells. Comparison will be made regarding viability of grafted fat in two groups.

Effect of Sacubitril/Valsartan on Reduced Right Ventricular Ejection Fraction in Patients With CTD...

Myocardial InjuryConnective Tissue Diseases

Heart failure, one of the leading causes of connective tissue disease (CTD) mortality, has attracted increasing attention. Currently, no known study had focused on the effect of sacubitril/valsartan on right ventricular dysfunction and in the systemic disease induced heart disease. We aimed to observe the effect of sacubitril/valsartan on primary endpoints (6 minutes walking test and myocardial fibrosis) in CTD patients with right ventricular ejection fraction reduction (RV-HFrEF).

Study of Sirolimus in CTD-TP in China

Connective Tissue DiseasesThrombocytopenia

We have designed a single-arm, open-label study of sirolimus in Chinese patients with refractory CTD-TP unresponsive to, or intolerant of, conventional medications at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH). Patients received oral sirolimus at a starting dose of 2 mg per day for 3 days and a sequential dose of 1mg per day, with dose adjusted according to tolerance and to maintain a therapeutic range of 6-15 ng/mL. Patients were treated with sirolimus for more than 6 months. Safety outcomes and the efficacy endpoints were assessed in all patients who received at least one dose of treatment.

A Study to Evaluate the Use of Bosentan in Patients With Exercise Induced Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension...

HypertensionPulmonary1 more

The primary objectives of this exploratory study are to evaluate the effects of bosentan on hemodynamics (via cardiac catheterization) during exercise in patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) who have abnormal hemodynamics during exercise but normal hemodynamics at rest. The authors hypothesize that early treatment may change the course of disease progression by improving hemodynamics during exercise, thus delaying disease progression.

Undifferentiated Connective Tissue DiseaseRecurrent Pregnancy Loss

Undifferentiated connective tissue diseases (UCTD) are known to increase the risk of pregnancy morbidities, including recurrent pregnancy loss. However, there is no consensus or guideline about the treatment for recurrent pregnancy loss in UCTD patients. Therefore, based on the tendency to thrombosis formation and placental inflammation in the pathogenesis of UCTD, this trial proposes to evaluate the effect of hydroxychloroquine with or without prednisone combined with anticoagulation on pregnancy outcomes in recurrent pregnancy loss patients with UCTD.

Determination of Kidney Function

Kidney DiseaseProteinuria1 more

Much more about kidney disorders can be learned by determining kidney function. This research proposes to study the kidneys function by several parameters known as glomerular filtration rate (GFR), Renal Plasma Flow (RPF), and Glomerular Capillary Wall Permselectivity. The study will select patients suffering from different types of kidney diseases. These patients will be selected based on the presence of significant amounts of protein in their urine (proteinuria). Standard blood and urine tests are often unable to provide completely accurate information about the kidney. In order for researchers to have a more accurate idea of kidney function, they will use alternative tests. Test materials (para aminohippurate and inulin) will be injected into patients veins that provides information based on their filtration through the kidneys....
