Evaluation of Diaphragm in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients by Ultrasound in Relation...
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseThe study of the diaphragm is an important point in the assessment of COPD patients. Ultrasonographic evaluation of the diaphragm is considered a simple, non-invasive, available bedside technique. Ultrasonography can be used for evaluation of the site, structure, and motion of the diaphragm, assessment of excursion, and thickness. The aim of the study is ultrasonographic assessment of the diaphragm in COPD patients and its relation to disease severity
Reveal LINQ for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)The purpose of the LINQ™ for COPD study is to characterize Reveal LINQ™ derived data from patients with COPD by assessing the relationship between changes in LINQ™ derived data with COPD exacerbation events.
The Study for the Reliability and Validity of Incremental Shuttle Walking Test for COPD Patients...
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseInvestigators will perform this study to validate shuttle walking tests in korean patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This study will be performed as multi-center prospective observational correlation study in ulsan university hospital and asan medical center. 36 participants will perform the exercise stress test with cycle, 6 minutes walking test and shuttle walking test. Investigators will analyze correlation 6 minutes walking test and shuttle walking test with exercise stress test.
Early Signs of Altitude Illness in Patients With COPD
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseThis study evaluates whether structured self-monitoring (SSM) by a symptom checklist in combination with a pulse oximeter worn at the wrist allows lowlanders with COPD to accurately identify whether or not they will experience an altitude-related illness during altitude travel.
The Difference in Heat Transport Characteristics of the Heart and Lung Meridians
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseAlthough some important progresses were made in the field of the meridian research, no breakthroughs have been achieved. Besides, there are some problems in meridian researches. Particularly, previous research of meridian phenomenon involved lots of subjective elements and outcomes.Researches that use modern scientific techniques to investigate the biological characteristics of meridian phenomenon are urgently needed. Therefore, this study is designed to assess the heat transport characteristics of meridian phenomenon for the Heart and Lung meridians by using infrared thermography. Thus, the biological characteristics of meridian phenomenon could be presented objectively in a scientific methodology.
The Effect of Bronchiectasis on the Exacerbation and Mortality in COPD
BronchiectasisChronic Obstructive Pulmonary DiseaseChronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways and lungs that develops against harmful particles or gases with exacerbations. Coexistence of bronchiectasis with COPD may lead to worsening of the functional parameters as well as alteration of the microbiological pattern in exacerbations and may negatively affect the exacerbation result parameters.
Preventing Repeat Hospitalisations in Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)...
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)The purpose of this study is to determine whether the investigators can predict which patients are at risk of a re-exacerbation of COPD within 30 and 90 days using changes in lung capacity during the initial exacerbation.
A Study of Inhaler Use in the Community
AsthmaChronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease1 moreThis is a prospective cohort observational study of inhaler adherence in a community care setting (ie. general practice clinics and pharmacies in the community).
Longitudinal Follow up to Assess Biomarkers Predictive of Emphysema Progression in Patients With...
Pulmonary DiseaseChronic Obstructive1 moreThe study will include 60 healthy subjects (ex-smoker without any airflow limitation), 125 COPD GOLD (global initiative for chronic obstructive lung disease) I , 125 COPD GOLD II, 125 COPD GOLD III and up to 20 patients with COPD and A1AT (Alpha1-Antitrypsin) deficiency (ZZ genotype). Soluble and imaging biomarkers will be investigated addressing different aspects of disease pathways postulated to be relevant for COPD progression.
COPD Research Registry
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)The COPD Research Registry is a confidential database of individuals diagnosed with COPD or at risk of developing COPD. The Registry was established in 2007 by the COPD Foundation with the purpose of providing a mechanism for researchers to boost enrollment in clinical trials and other research studies. The COPD Foundation is working with National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado to serve as the Registry's Data Coordinating Center and to ensure strictest confidentiality of participant information.
