Causes of Health Disparities in African Americans With Coronary Artery Disease on Clopidogrel

Coronary Artery Disease

African Americans with coronary artery disease who have been prescribed clopidogrel (also known as Plavix), an antiplatelet drug will be enrolled. The purpose of this study is to help identify why African Americans are at an increased risk of having a major heart attack or stroke after a common procedure to open up blocked arteries with stents. The knowledge to be gained from this study includes: A better understanding of the metabolism of the antiplatelet drug, clopidogrel, and abnormal platelet function in African Americans; this understanding may provide a basis for potential future therapy A better understanding of challenges to taking clopidogrel as prescribed by a doctor and opinions about a genetic test related to this medicine.

Telerobotic Ultrasound for Carotid Imaging - Feasibility Study

Carotid Artery DiseaseAtherosclerosis18 more

In this proposal, the investigators will demonstrate the feasibility and noninferiority of telerobotic ultrasonography as compared to traditional manual acquisition in performing a limited carotid Duplex examination and in carotid plaque detection.

Thrombogenicity Assessment in Patients Treated With Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffolds

Coronary Artery Disease

Platelet activation and aggregation, intrinsic thrombogenicity, and biomarkers (fibrinogen, C-reactive protein, platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule, von Willebrand factor, p-selectin) will be measured and compared following the implantation of Bioreabsorbable Vascular Scaffolds and Drug Eluting Stents.

VIBE-assisted DEB Registry

Coronary Artery Disease

VIBER aims at assessing angiographic outcome of drug-eluting balloon angioplasty assisted by the Vascular Imaging Balloon Catheter (VIBE, Volcano, San Diego, CA) device, which integrates a predilation catheter with electronic intravascular ultrasound capabilities.

The Usefulness of Coronary CT Scan After Everolimus-eluting Bioabsorbable Scaffold Implantation...

Coronary Disease

The purpose of this study is to evaluate usefulness of coronary computed tomographic scan for prediction of clinical events after everolimus-eluting bioabsorbable scaffold implantation for coronary artery disease.

320 Multidetector Computed Tomography Prior to Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

Coronary Disease

Recent advances in technology have resulted in the development of scanners that can n image the heart arteries within 10 to 20 minutes but without the need for admission to hospital or insertion of catheters. This means that coronary heart disease may be more readily identified (or ruled out) and allow better diagnosis and treatment of patients with symptoms suggesting coronary heart disease. Here, we propose to assess the latest and most powerful scanners to see if it can accurately diagnose the extent of coronary artery disease and facilitate the planning of heart surgery.

A Long-term Follow-up Study to Evaluate the Predictive Value of BMS747158 in Patients Suspected...

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

This long-term study will follow patients with known or suspected of having coronary artery disease (CAD) and have participated in present and future BMS747158 clinical studies. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term predictive value associated with BMS747158 Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI).

Endothelial Function-guided Therapy Compared to Usual Care in Patients With NOCAD

Coronary Atherosclerosis

The current study is designed to test the hypothesis that compared to conventional treatment; endothelial function-guided treatment reduces adverse cardiovascular events in patients with non-obstructive coronary artery disease documented at clinically indicated coronary angiography.
