Telemedicine Qualifying Transition Between Tertiary and Primary Health Care in Stable Coronary Artery...

Coronary Artery Disease

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the telemedicine use in primary health care is effective in the accompaniment of stable coronary artery disease patients who were discharged from the tertiary health care clinics.

Improving Medication Adherence Through a Health Literacy-based Intervention for Coronary Heart Disease...

Coronary Disease

This is a multi-center pilot study to examine the effectiveness of a health literacy-based intervention to improve medication adherence and self-efficacy of medication use among individuals with coronary heart disease (CHD). The specific aims are to: i) develop a health literacy-based intervention to improve medication adherence for CHD individuals with low health literacy and ii) evaluate the effects of a health literacy-based intervention on improving medication adherence and self-efficacy in CHD individuals.

Monitoring and Adjustment of Medication Therapy for Patients With Heart Disease

Coronary Heart DiseaseMyocardial Infarction

Existing trials for the patient with coronary heart disease evaluate the interdisciplinary team dynamic where pharmacists (pharmacotherapists) provide therapeutic recommendations in the inpatient environment. To our knowledge, only other trial has evaluated the addition of a pharmacist (or nurse practitioner) in an outpatient collaborative cardiology practice and has found no benefit. However, the investigators believe that since a cardiology based pharmacist (pharmacotherapist) in the Veterans Health Administration has physical assessment skills, a shorter cycle length between appointments, and the ability to provide medication therapy management, the pharmacotherapist should be similarly successful as seen with other pharmacist based medication therapy management practices. The investigators will assess effectiveness by using the combined endpoint of blood pressure and lipid treatment. Additionally the investigators will conduct three substudies to evaluate if the pharmacist can improve all cause mortality and cardiovascular morbidity, adherence to antihypertensives, and patient satisfaction.

The Effect of Cardiac Educational Program on Level of Knowledge and Satisfaction Among Coronary...

Coronary Artery Disease

Background: Although patients' education programs improve health-related knowledge that promote individual capacity to understand basic health information, there is a scarcity in the studies that address cardiac educational programs for patients with coronary artery diseases in Jordan and their impact on patients' health outcomes. Aim: the aims of this study are to assess the level of knowledge and satisfaction of patients with coronary artery disease and to evaluate the effect of implementing a cardiac educational program on patient's level of knowledge and satisfaction. Methods: This study will be carried out using a true experimental two groups pre and post- test. The necessary information will be collected from 138 patients with CAD in the north of Jordan using the Coronary Artery Disease Education Questionnaire (CADE-Q) and the Patient Satisfaction Scale (PSS). The expected outcomes include establishing foundational knowledge about the effectiveness of cardiac educational program on patient health related out comes. Evidence on the effect of cardiac educational program will help patients to recover from a heart attacks, prevent future heart problems, hospital stays and death related to heart problems as well as making a necessary life style changes. Keywords: coronary artery disease, educational program, patient satisfaction, patient knowledge.

Impact of Stress CT Myocardial Perfusion on Downstream Resources and Prognosis

Coronary Artery DiseaseMyocardial Ischemia

CT myocardial perfusion imaging (CTP) represents one of the newly developed CT-based techniques but its cost-effectiveness in the clinical pathway is undefined. The aim of the study is to evaluate the usefulness of combined evaluation of coronary anatomy and myocardial perfusion in intermediate to high-risk patients for suspected CAD or with known disease in terms of clinical decision-making, resource utilization and outcomes in a broad variety of geographic areas and patient subgroups.

A Study Evaluating the Effects of Lipid Lowering Treatment on Steroid Synthesis

Coronary Heart DiseaseDiabetes Mellitus2 more

Cholesterol is the precursor of glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids and sex steroids. Both adrenal and non-adrenal (ovarian + testicular) all steroid hormones are primarily synthesized using the LDL-cholesterol in the circulation. Additionally there is 'de novo' cholesterol synthesis in both the adrenals and gonads controlled by the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme. A third pathway is the use of circulatory HDL-cholesterol by the adrenal and gonadal tissues for the synthesis of steroids. Since statins both decrease circulatory LDL and inhibit de novo cholesterol synthesis, they are likely to affect the synthesis of steroid hormones. In this study we aim to investigate the effects of lowering LDL levels below 70 mg/dL on steroid hormone synthesis.

Coronary Disease

Few studies have attempt to improve DAPT adherence through social media. The investigators will explore the prevalence of DAPT discontinuation and prove the hypothesis that using social media will improve DAPT adherence among patients requiring DAPT following DES implantation.

Effects of AI Assisted Follow-up Strategy on Secondary Prevention in CABG Patients

Coronary Heart DiseaseArtificial Intelligence1 more

The present study is trying to find out whether artificial intelligence assisted follow-up strategy will improve secondary prevention in CABG patients. In addition, we will test whether rural patients may have more benefits under the new follow-up strategy based on the artificial intelligence device compared with urban patients.

Effects of Cognitive-behavioral Education and Exercise Interventions on Smoking Cessation

Coronary Artery DiseaseSmoking Cessation

The purpose of the study is to adopt the Trans-theoretical Model to facilitate step-by-step changes in a patient's smoking behavior and explore the effect of "Cognitive-Behavioral Education Course" and "Exercise Program" on Smoking cessation, physical health, and mental health of smokers with CAD.
