The FAVOR V AMI Trial

ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial InfarctionMultivessel Coronary Artery Disease1 more

The FAVOR V AMI study is a prospective, multicenter, blinded, randomized, sham-controlled trial comparing the long-term clinical outcomes of the "Functional and Angiography-derived Strain inTegration (FAST)" technique (next-generation quantitative flow ratio [μQFR] and radial wall strain [RWS]) guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) strategy, with standard treatment strategy, in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and multivessel coronary disease (MVD).

Role of Screening With Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography in Primary Prevention of Coronary...

Cardiovascular Primary Prevention Strategy

The primary objective of this study is to determine whether coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) -based coronary heart disease(CHD) prevention strategy will be superior to traditional CHD prevention strategy, in reducing the future risk of CHD which included myocardial infarction, angina, cardiac death, and an emergency/urgent coronary revascularisation procedure, in a community population aged 40 to 69 years with cardiovascular risk factors but no history of cardiovascular disease.

Twenty-year Follow-up of the Inter99 Cohort

Coronary Heart DiseaseAcute Myocardial Infarction4 more

Being born small increases your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes (T2D) with age. Furthermore, data even suggest that some of the diseases ("complications") in the eyes, kidneys, nerves, liver, blood vessels and heart often seen in T2D patients may not only be due to high blood sugar levels, but rather they to some extent are due to reduced growth in your mother´s womb. The Inter99 cohort included 6784 Danish citizens aged 30 to 60 years when established 20 years ago. Data from the Inter99 cohort showed a strong role of low birth weight (LBW) on T2D risk. The aim is now to reexamine risk of T2D and complications in all the alive 6004 elderly Inter99 participants. Importantly, today there are available techniques to perform detailed examinations for even the earliest signs of complications in both subjects with and without diabetes, and the results of this study will altogether provide important new insights into both the origin and classification of T2D and associated complications. It is hypothesized that being born with lower birth weights increases the adult risk of T2D and heart disease and associated complications in the large and smaller blood vessels.

Evaluation of Plasma Non-coding RNAs as Biomarkers in Coronary Heart Disease

Coronary Disease

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the expression level of miR-320a are effective as biomarker in evaluating the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment effects of coronary heart disease.

Thrombus Aspiration in Heavy Thrombus Burden Acute ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction

Coronary Artery DiseasePercutaneous Coronary Intervention1 more

Recent guidelines for the management of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) recommend against the routine use of thrombus aspiration (TA) during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) (Class III indication). Yet, so far, there is limited data regarding its role STEMI patients with heavy thrombus burden (TB). The aim of this trial is to evaluate the effects of manual TA and PCI in comparison to conventional PCI alone in a real-life clinical trial among heavy TB STEMI patients undergoing PPCI.

Fullscale_Intervention Study: Genetic Risk Communication in Coronary Heart Disease and Wearables...

Fitness TrackersSedentary Time2 more

Background: This study aims to determine the effects of communicating genetic risk for Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) alone or in combination with goal setting and prompts from a wearable device on objectively measured sedentary time (ST) in East Asians. It is hypothesized that this combination will lead to significant favorable changes in objectively ST, and that such changes will be more likely to be sustained over 6-month follow-up. Methods: In a parallel group, randomized controlled trial, a total 414 individuals of East Asians aged over 60years will be allocated into one of three groups: 1 control and 2 intervention groups. Blood samples will be used for estimation of CHD genetic and analysis of metabolic risk markers. Genetic risk for CHD will be estimated based on recently identified 79 SNPs (associated with CHD for East Asians) using an established methodology. Questionnaires and physical measurement will be administered at Before and after the 12-month intervention and at 6-month follow-up. Each group will receive a Fitbit device. Both intervention groups will be given CHD genetic risk estimates along with lifestyle advice but one of them will additionally use Fitbit's step-goal setting and prompt functions. The primary outcome is objectively measured sedentary time. Secondary outcomes include objectively measured MVPA, calories burned, and five intermediate metabolic risk markers (total cholesterol/HDL-C/LDL-C/triglycerides).

Self-management and Theory-based Rehabilitation Encouraging New Gateways to Healthy-Hearts

Coronary Disease

The goal of this intervention is translate current behaviour change in to community cardiac rehabilitation programmes for people living beyond a heart attack. The main question it aims to answer is whether adding a lifestyle change programme promoted maintenance of physical activity changes will be maintained following a cardiac rehabilitation programme. The problem Guidelines recommend that coronary heart disease patients should be offered cardiac rehabilitation which includes exercise programmes, education, and ongoing support within both clinical and community settings. Cardiac rehabilitation programmes reduce the risk of death and illness, but it is likely that patients will stop exercising without enough support. New was to encourage coronary heart disease patients to stay active both during and after taking part in cardiac rehabilitation programmes are needed. The project Behaviour change techniques can encourage patients to stay active for longer. The aim of this project is to see whether behaviour change can encourage coronary heart disease patients taking part in community-based cardiac rehabilitation programmes to stay active for longer compared with patients receiving the standard cardiac rehabilitation programme. The benefits It is hoped that these methods will encourage more cardiac rehabilitation patients to stay physically active for longer and improve health. The results will provide more evidence on using behavioural change techniques in cardiac rehabilitation programmes and have the potential to benefit many patients with coronary heart disease throughout Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell Administration in the Treatment of Coronary Graft Disease in Heart Transplant...

Coronary DiseaseHeart Transplant

MES-HT is a pilot multicenter prospective study conducted in transplant patients who developed severe coronary vasculopathy. A preparation of autologous mesenchymal cells of bone marrow is administered by endomyocardial injection, guided by the Noga® cardiac mapping system. The main objective is to determine the effect of the administration of autologous mesenchymal cells of the bone marrow by intramyocardial injection on myocardial perfusion in cardiac transplant patients with severe coronary vasculopathy.
