Change in Antibody Levels Following SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) Vaccinations

Limited information is available regarding the effects of various factors that may influence the duration and effectiveness of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) vaccinations. This virus causes Covid-19. Such factors include age, disease states, general immunocompetence, and use of various drugs. The results of this study by Southlake Diagnostics Inc. will provide base-line antibody (IgG and total) data regarding the extent to which the results from this test can be interpreted as an indication or degree of protection from infection after vaccination with one of the three authorized SARS-CoV-2 vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna or J& J), with information regarding various confounding factors. The study will include 30,000 male and female or more residents associated with over 300 nursing homes, extended care facilities and over-55 communities as well as staff associated with these facilities. Demographic data of the subjects including characteristics, and medical histories including concomitant medications and disease states/conditions will be collected and submitted to Southlake Diagnostics for analysis via the REDCap platform (described below). Various possible statistical correlations will be assessed.

Wellbeing of Healthcare Providersin Frontline COVID-19 Departments

Treating COVID-19 hospitalized patients incurred heavy burden of physical and emotional stress. The present study is taking place at Carmel Medical Center in collaboration with the integrative oncology and the internal medicine teams with aim to improve the wellbeing of healthcare providers working in frontline COVID-19 departments. In this prospective preference study, Healthcare providers (HCPs) working inside COVID-19 departments are referred to integrative oncology-trained practitioners for assessment of their two leading concerns followed by 30-minute individually tailored treatment. The study assess, based on the Measure Yourself Concerns and Wellbeing (MYCAW) questionnaire, the impact of personalized integrative oncology modalities on the physical and emotional concerns as well as Heart Rate Variability of participating HCPs in COVID-19 departments.

This study will be a phase-1, open-label, placebo-controlled, evaluation of two-dosages of a live, recombinant Newcastle disease virus expressing the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 (NDV-HXP-S), an investigational product for IN, IM, or a combined IN+IM vaccination in healthy adults previously immunized against COVID-19. The IN and IM live virus vaccinations will be identical in composition and only differ in route of administration.

COVID-19 pandemic elicited broad medical, economic, and social consequences. There is limited research and outstanding data gaps related to understanding the impact of long-term effect of COVID-19 on Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) and Work Productivity and Activity Impairment (WPAI) in the outpatient settings in the US. Information on the evolution of recovery of daily function and the return to the level of health enjoyed by outpatients prior to SARS-CoV-2 infection will inform the overall estimation of the benefits of vaccines (quality-adjusted life years [QALYs] and indirect cost saving) in COVID-19 health economics models.

VIDO has developed a vaccine called COVAC-2. The COVAC-2 study vaccine contains a portion of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, called S1. The spike protein is the part of the virus that is responsible for attaching to the surface of host cells. COVAC-2 contains a SWE adjuvant. An adjuvant is a compound that is added to a vaccine to help the vaccine produce a better immune response. The SWE adjuvant is similar to another adjuvant, MF59, that is found in influenza vaccines and MF59 containing vaccines have been given to millions of people around the world. The vaccine is expected to stimulate the body to make antibodies against the S1 protein. The antibodies will recognize the viral spike protein if the body is exposed to the virus and prevent severe COVID-19 illness. In animal studies, the immune response generated by the COVAC-2 vaccine was able to protect the vaccinated animals against a severe SARS-CoV-2 infection. This is a Phase 1/2, placebo-controlled, observer-blind, age-stratified randomized, multicenter study to access the safety and immunogenicity of two dosing levels (10 and 25 µg S1 protein tested in parallel) administered once in healthy adults ≥18 of age who have received 2 doses of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months earlier. The study will also include an open-label exploratory study arm to evaluate safety and immunogenicity of a single COVAC-2 dose in previously SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals (Phase 2 only).

The Omicron variant of concern (VOC) is currently rapidly spreading worldwide, with extremely high transmission rates, with an estimated R of >3. the investigators now have preliminary, yet unpublished data, showing slow waning of the immune response after the third dose of the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine within 4 months after this dose . While these data would not have been worrisome in the Delta VOC era, this may be different with the emergence of the Omicron VOC. These data raise the question of when and will a 4th dose be needed to cope with the emergence of Omicron. However, if a have reached the maximal effect of the current vaccine has been reached against Omicron, with a third dose, will a 4th dose have any added value? Here, the investigators will study the potential immunogenicity of a 4th dose, together with assessing safety and effectiveness in preventing infections

Quantifying Viral Load in Respiratory Particles That Are Generated by Children and Adults With COVID-19...

The study will be a prospective cohort design to determine if children generate aerosols that harbor a viral load similar to adults. Prior to beginning enrollment, researchers may recruit up to 10 participants (adults or children who meet inclusion criteria for the main study) to perform a small pilot to optimize our cold chain and laboratory procedures. The study will include children and adults who are confirmed SARS-CoV-2 positive and aim for a total sample size of at least 10 children and 10 adults. Hypothesis: As children have a high viral load in the nasopharynx, we hypothesize that children generate aerosols that contain SARS-CoV-2 virus. Aim: To estimate the viral load in aerosols generated from children with COVID-19 infection, and to compare the viral load contained in aerosols from children with aerosols from adults
