Combined Immunization of COVID-19 Inactivated Vaccine With QIV and PPV23

SafetyImmunogenicity4 more

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of the booster dose of COVID-19 inactivated vaccine and co-immunization with quadrivalent influenza vaccine and 23-valent pneumonia polysaccharide vaccine in people aged 18 years and older. A randomized controlled, open trial design was adopted. The study was conducted with informed consent of the subjects for immunogenicity and safety in the population aged 18 years and older. A total of 3000 healthy subjects were selected, (1)600 healthy subjects were selected for the immunogenicity and safety study of co-immunization, 300 in the adult group (18-59 years old) and 300 in the elderly group (60 years old and above); (2) 2400 healthy subjects were selected for the observational study of the safety of co-immunization, 1200 in the adult group (18-59 years old) and 1200 in the elderly group (60 years old and above ) 1200 people.

SARS-COV-2 Seroprevalence and Seroconversion Among Employees of the UZ Brussel Following COVID-19...

SARS-CoV-2Covid19

A novel zoonotic coronavirus was discovered in Wuhan (Hubei Province, China) mid-December 2019 and was named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus rapidly spread to the rest of the world, including Europe and explicitly affects the respiratory system, generating Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Employees of the university hospital of Brussels (UZ Brussel) presenting symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 are offered to be tested with real-time PCR on nasopharyngeal swabs. As asymptomatic infections have been described and as the PCR can be negative when taken late after onset of symptoms, serologic tests can be performed. The SARS-CoV 2003 epidemic demonstrated that serological assays were a useful diagnostic tool of non-acute infections. Although it is still uncertain whether convalescing patients have a risk of re-infection, recent data suggest that SARS-CoV-2 antibodies could protect at least for some time from subsequent viral exposures. As the COVID-19 pandemic had devastating medical, economic and social consequences, safe and effective prophylactic vaccines were urgently needed. And thus several candidate vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 have been developed. The vaccination campaign of the health care workers of the UZ Brussel started mid January 2021. The first available vaccine was the BNT162b2 (Pfizer) vaccine. Early March 2021, in order to accelerate the vaccination of the UZ Brussel employees, the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (AZD12222) (Oxford, AstaZeneca) vaccination program was implemented in parallel with the BNT162b2 vaccination program In the COVEMUZ-2 study the investigators have already started to document the SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence and seroconversion among vaccinated employees (using BNT162b2) in the UZ Brussels. In this study, the investigators aim to prospectively document the SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence and seroconversion among vaccinated employees (using ChAdOx1 nCoV-19) of the UZ Brussel, at three different time points, namely 6 weeks (+/- 2 weeks; T1), 6 months (+/- 1 month; T2) and 12 months (+/- 1 month; T3) after the second vaccination.

Monitoring of the Post-vaccination Immune Response to COVID-19 Among Hospital Staff

Hospital StaffVaccined Againt COVID-19

Vaccination against COVID-19 is a major public health issue to control the epidemic and reduce the number of severe infections and deaths. Three vaccines currently received use authorization in France: two mRNA vaccines and one recombinant viral vector vaccine. Immunogenicity data demonstrate that they induce the development of neutralizing antibodies and IgG directed against the viral S1 protein and the receptor binding domain (RBD). However, there are currently no data on the persistence over time of the humoral response induced by vaccination, and data are still incomplete on cellular immunogenicity. No immune correlate of protection has been established for COVID-19. In addition, these data come from assays carried out with current vaccines developed against a lineage of SARS-CoV-2 known as wild type (without genetic mutations). The main objective of this study is to monitor in hospital staff the temporal evolution of humoral immunity induced by anti-COVID-19 vaccines by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), at 3, 6, 12 and 24 months after the last injection of vaccine.

Comparative Genetic and Immune Response Analysis of Different COVID-19 Vaccine Candidates Using...

Genetic Predisposition

Reaction of the immune system and the body to a Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) vaccination is so different and ultimately unpredictable has not yet been clarified. It is also not yet known why people who have been vaccinated react to a vaccination with sometimes serious side effects. Using high-throughput dissecting (analytical) methods with the suffix OMICS ("Multi-OMICS" methods, collective characterization and quantification of pools of biological molecules) used in this study on the basis of blood tests, data from several molecular levels can be recorded and a holistic picture can be created from this, which can depict the connections between these levels.

Leveraging CHWs to Improve COVID-19 Testing and Mitigation Among CJIs Accessing a Corrections-focused...

Covid19

Given the likelihood of COVID-19 remaining an endemic disease among high-risk populations, establishing effective mitigation interventions will be critical to stemming community transmission. Criminal justice-involved individuals are extremely important to reducing community-based SARS-CoV-2 transmission due to their increased risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2 while incarcerated and their likelihood of living in congregate settings after incarceration. The investigators will evaluate an onsite Point-of-Care SARS-CoV-2 testing and education strategy in a corrections-focused community-based organization and its impact on improving testing uptake, mitigation behaviors(e.g. mask wearing, hand hygiene, social distancing, vaccine uptake when available), and cost-effectiveness.

Investigation of the Effects of Dietary Nitrate and Sex on COVID-19 Vaccine Induced Vascular Dysfunction...

Cardiovascular DiseasesEndothelial Dysfunction

Inorganic nitrate can protect blood vessels from the damage that occurs during cardiovascular disease. Early experimental work suggests that nitrate-induced improvements in vascular function relate to the suppression of inflammatory pathways. Whether this protection against inflammation-induced damage to the blood vessel wall might also be functional in the setting of COVID-19 vaccination will be investigated. Vascular function will be assessed before and after the healthy participant has received their COVID-19-vaccination. Whether there might be differences in the response to the vaccine between the sexes and whether a dietary nitrate intervention impacts upon the effects of vaccination will be investigated. The study is in two parts: Part A: To assess sex differences in the vascular response to COVID-19 vaccination. Part B: To assess whether inorganic nitrate, in the form of dietary inorganic nitrate supplementation compared to placebo control, can raise circulating plasma nitrite levels and thereby prevent the systemic inflammation that causes vascular dysfunction.

Evaluation of Postmortem Pulmonary Interstitial Fibrosis Severity and EGFR Positivity in Covid-19...

PneumoniaViral2 more

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the severity of fibrosis in the lung tissue and EGFR positivity in patients who died due to covid-19 pneumonia, with the demographic characteristics, comorbidities, biochemistry values, treatments they received, and radiological appearances. Transthoracic tru-cut biopsy will be performed on patients who have died in the intensive care unit with the diagnosis of Covid 19 pneumonia. EGFR positivity will be evaluated in the material taken. The relationship between the severity of fibrosis and the demographic data of the patients, the drugs used and their radiological appearances will be analyzed statistically.
