The immune response of COVID-19 vaccination was monitored and studied in the context of the previously PICOV study (P2020/424), Nephro- VAC studies (P2020/284 and P2020/312) and Lung-VAC study (P2021/182). The constant emergence of new variants of concern (VOCs), which become increasingly better at escaping infection and vaccine induced immune responses, together with waning immunity over time, warrant additional vaccination rounds. This is especially true in immunocompromised populations. In the current study, we want to continue monitoring SARS-CoV-2 specific immunity over the next two years, encompassing several future vaccination campaigns.

Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19)

This trial is a clinical study to evaluate the safety of sequential boosters of novel coronavirus mRNA vaccine in adults aged 18 years and older who have completed three doses of novel inactivated coronavirus vaccination. According to the results of the previous phase I clinical trial, the incidence of adverse reactions in the 0.3 ml dose group was lower than that in the 0.5 ml dose group, and the degree of adverse reactions was weaker. The dose of 0.3ml was chosen for the current study, and a 1-dose immunization program was completed for safety observation.

COVID-19 Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

Acute rehabilitation in critically ill patients can improve post-intensive care unit (post-ICU) physical function. Scientific evidence has considered neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) as a promising approach for the early rehabilitation of patients during and/or after ICU. Neuromuscular electrostimulation can be an alternative form of muscle exercise that helps to gain strength in critically ill patients with COVID -19, due to the severe weakness that patients experience due to longer MV, analgesia and NMB duration. Thus, the general objective of evaluating the effects of an early rehabilitation protocol on the strength and functionality of patients affected by SARS-CoV-2 variants and specifically compare the effectiveness of NMES associated with the functional rehabilitation protocol(FR). Also, describe demographics, clinical status, ICU therapies, mortality estimates and Hospital outcomes, of every patients admitted in ICU during the observation periods.

Recent studies have shown that nurses have been more affected by the COVID-19 pandemic than any other group of hospital workers in terms of anxiety, depression, and burnout. Several clinical studies had previously demonstrated the effectiveness of mindfulness and compassion interventions in reducing burnout and emotional distress amongst healthcare professionals. A parallel-group randomized controlled trial will assess the feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy of a mindfulness and compassion-focused programme on frontline nurses who had been working during the COVID-19 pandemic. Seventy-two participants will be divided equally into an intervention group and a control group. Primary outcome will be assessed using the Emotional Exhaustion subscale of the Maslach Burnout Inventory General Survey (MBI-GS). Secondary outcomes will be measured by the Cynicism and Professional Efficacy subscales of the MBI-GS; the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9); the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7); the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI); the Impact of Stressful Events (IES-R); the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS); the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ); and the Forms of Self-Criticising/attacking and Self-Reassuring Scale (FSCRS). The study aims to fill a gap in the literature and present a scientifically validated intervention for those healthcare professionals most exposed to the stressful conditions of working during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Patients with a history of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) or post acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC) and abnormal growth hormone secretion, as measured by glucagon stimulation test, will be treated with replacement growth hormone therapy for a period of 6 months (mTBI) or 9 months (PASC). Testing of cognition, exercise, fatigue, brain activation and morphology, body composition and measurements of quality of life will be performed before and after the treatment period. Fecal sampling for characterization of the GI microbiome will occur monthly over the treatment period. Control subjects will be enrolled and will provide fecal samples monthly for 6 months. GI microbiomes will be compared between mTBI patients, PASC patients and controls at baseline as well as over the treatment period.

Investigational medications adjunct to clinical standard of care treatment will be assessed to evaluate safety and effectiveness as an anti-COVID-19 treatment. All hospitalized persons with moderate to severe COVID-19 disease that meet eligibility criteria will be offered participation.

The scientific community is in search for novel therapies that can help to face the ongoing epidemics of novel Coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2) originated in China in December 2019. At present, there are no proven interventions to prevent progression of the disease. Some preliminary data on SARS pneumonia suggest that inhaled Nitric Oxide (NO) could have beneficial effects on SARS-CoV-2 due to the genomic similarities between this two coronaviruses. In this study we will test whether inhaled NO therapy prevents progression in patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 disease.

To date, there is no vaccine or treatment with proven efficiency against COVID-19, and the transmissibility of the SARS-CoV-2 virus can be inferred by its identification in the oro-nasopharynx. The bacillus Calmette Guérin (BCG) has the potential for cross-protection against viral infections. This study evaluates the impact of previous (priming effect, from the titer of anti-BCG interferon-gamma) or current BCG exposure (boost with intradermal vaccine) on 1) clinical evolution of COVID-19; 2) elimination of SARS-CoV-2 at different times and disease phenotypes; and 3) seroconversion rate and titration (anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgA, IgM, and IgG).
