Covid 19 Pandemic. Emerging Legal and Ehical Disputes Over Patient Confidentiality

Covid 19 Pandemic From Ethical View

Many critical ethical questions arise in pandemic covid 19planning, preparedness and response. These include: Who will get priority access to medications, vaccines and intensive care unit beds, given the potential shortage of these essential resources? In the face of a pandemic, what obligations do health-care workers have to work not withstanding risks to their own health and the health of their families? How can surveillance, isolation, quarantine and social-distancing measures be undertaken in a way that respects ethical norms? What obligations do countries have to one another with respect to pandemic covid 19 planning and response efforts?

Vocal Feature Analysis Algorithm for COVID-19 Detection

COVID-19

This is an observational, prospective, non-randomized, non-significant risk study collecting voice recordings from subjects who are being tested for COVID-19 by laboratory analysis of specimens obtained by nasal or naso-pharyngeal (NP) swab. Patients record their voices through an app on their mobile phone. Patients and health care providers will be blinded to the swab test results during Phase 2 of the study.

Fibromyalgia During the COVID-19 Pandemic

FibromyalgiaPrimary

On 12 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that a novel coronavirus was the cause of a respiratory illness in a cluster of people in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, which was reported to the WHO on 31 December 2019. There is evidence of a high prevalence of psychiatric comorbidities in Fibromyalgia (FM )(especially depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder), which are associated with a worse clinical profile. In these challenging times of COVID-19, anxiety increased among the general population. Fibromyalgia patients are more at risk of developing anxiety in these difficult times. This might result in more frequent visits to the rheumatology clinics with an exacerbation of their chronic pain syndrome.

The Impact and Coping Strategy of COVID-19 Among Taiwan Society and Medical and Nursing Institutes...

The Psychological Impact of COVID-19

The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) had its outbreak in late 2019 in China and is considered a biological disaster. With medical organizations and staff on the frontline, the investigators should conduct assessments, for the different tiers of medical staff, patients, and community residents, on the short- term psychological and mental disabilities or danger factors that they might have faced. As such, the investigators can design and establish a set of evaluative indicators of the risks of biological disasters, and strategies to manage guide and cope, and internal/ external testing strategies. These work in guaranteeing quality and performance, and as such, establishing "Digital Platform for Integrated Research of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)".

Serologic Surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) in a Prospective Cohort of Health Care Workers...

COVID-19SARS-CoV 21 more

The investigators will follow a single prospective cohort of 50 Health Care Workers in the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires (Argentina) from May 15th to August 31st 2020 using antibody testing for SARS-CoV-2 IgM and IgG at baseline and every 2 weeks in order to assess the incidence of COVID-19, the prevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies (IgM and IgG) and incidence of reinfection or reactivations of previous COVID-19 using viral gene sequencing in this cohort.

Predictive Models for Intensive Care Admission and Death of COVID-19

COVID19Pneumonia2 more

To build simple and reliable predictive scores for intensive care admissions and deaths in COVID19 patients. These scores adhere to the TRIPOD (transparent reporting of a multivariable prediction model for individual prognosis or diagnosis) reporting guidelines. The outcomes of the study are (i) admission in the Intensive Care Unit admission and (ii) death. All patients admitted in the Emergency Department with a positive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction SARS-COV2 test were included in the study. Routine clinical and laboratory data were collected at their admission and during their stay. Chest X-Rays and CT-Scans were performed and analyzed by a senior radiologist. Generalized Linear Models using a binomial distribution with a logit link function (R software version X) were used to develop predictive scores for (i) admission to ICU among emergency ward patients; (ii) death among ICU patients. A first panel of Number Models with the highest AIC (BIC) was preselected. Ten-fold cross-validation was then used to estimate the out-of-sample prediction error among these preselected models. The one with the smallest prediction error was in the end singled out .

Prevalence and Risk Factors of SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Responses (COVID-19)

Covid19Corona Virus Infection2 more

Observational and prospective study with one year of follow-up of the cohort of workers of the CSdM, including workers of subcontracted companies working in the Hospital of Mataró (2,300 workers approximately) and with controls at baseline and at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. All CSdM workers will be invited to participate by e-mail and by announcements in the corporate website. A space will be set up on the corporate intranet where workers will be informed about the study, will be able to give their informed consent and will be able to answer an electronic questionnaire regarding socio-demographic, clinical and labour personal characteristics. Once the questionnaire answered, participants will be authorized to schedule a blood extraction. Prevalence of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 will be analyzed (IgA, IgM, IgG). PCR will be also performed for IgM and IgA positive subjects.

Reliability of a Pocket Sized Ultrasound Scanner in the Evaluation Covid-19 Pneumonia

Covid-19 Pneumonia

Ultrasound imaging of the lung (LUS) and associated tissues has demonstrated clinical utility in COVID-19 patients. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the possibilities of a portable pocket-sized ultrasound scanner in the evaluation of lung involvement in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia, in comparison with a high end ultrasound scanner. Statisical analysis will be performed with Stata for Windows V 16 (Stata corp, Texas College, TX). Power size estimation using Medcalc 19.3.1, (MedCalc Software Ltd, Ostenda, B) showed that hat 34 patients would be required for the comparison of the two methods using the Bland-Altman method assuming a mean difference in total score of 1±1, a false positive rate (α) of 0.05 and a false negative rate of 0.1 (β=0.9).
