Following an acute COVID-19 infection, many patients suffer from long lasting physical symptoms that may greatly impair quality of life. Persisting dyspnea and other functional respiratory complaints could evoke Hyperventilation Syndrome (HVS) as a putative contributor of the long-COVID presentation in COVID-19 survivors. We aimed to assess the possible relationship between a HVS and previous acute SARS-CoV-2 infection.

This is a retrospective observational study in the form of a cohort study evaluating the use of pre-operative imaging for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in a tertiary centre during the first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The study group includes all patients who underwent emergency appendicectomy for suspected acute appendicitis between March 2020 and February 2021, while the control group includes all patients who underwent emergency appendicectomy for suspected acute appendicitis between March 2019 and February 2020. The final histology will be used as primary outcome, as the study hypothesis is that increasing the use of pre-operative imaging will reduce the negative appendicectomy rate.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of Freedom For All Diagnostics, Inc.'s colloidal gold immune technology SARS-CoV-2 Antigen investigational assay when compared to a high-sensitivity Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR assay. The study will evaluate the accuracy in the intended use environment of the SARS-CoV-2 antigen assay when testing is conducted in a CLIA-waived setting (e.g., a physician's office or clinic) by non-laboratory personnel serving in a healthcare facility or setting.

This is a prospective, observational study of COVID-19 surveillance and exposure testing in school communities. Participating school communities are providing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) tests to students and staff at their schools per school, local, and national guidelines. This study will combine data received from the schools with data collected directly from participants to guide analysis of the co-primary objectives. Participants will be grouped into two different cohorts, depending on each school's SARS-CoV-2 test administration practices. Surveillance Cohort: Schools participating in this cohort will be performing surveillance testing weekly on approximately 10-20% of students and 100% of staff. Exposure Cohort: Schools participating in this cohort will be performing exposure testing on students and staff who have been identified as having close contact with school members diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
