Dosing of Thromboprophylaxis and Mortality in Critically Ill COVID-19 Patients

Covid19Thromboembolism

The aim of the study is to associate dose of thromboprophylaxis with outcome in critically ill COVID-19 patients. This will be done by associating dose of thromboprophylaxis with 28-day mortality, survival outside ICU, thromboembolic event and bleeding complications. This was done in our earlier study for patients admitted in March and April (Clinicaltrials.gov NCT04412304 June 2 2020) but now we will include the patients admitted in May, June and half of July and we will ad the outcome of 90-day mortality.

Automatic Oxygen Titration With O2matic® to Patients Admitted With COVID-19 and Hypoxemic Respiratory...

Covid19Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure1 more

Patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and pneumonitis often have hypoxemic respiratory failure and a need of supplementary oxygen. Guidelines recommend controlled oxygen, for most patients with a recommended interval of SpO2 between 92 and 96 %. We aimed to determine if closed-loop control of oxygen was feasible in patients with COVID-19 and could maintain SpO2 in the specified interval.

COVID-19 and Venous Thromboembolism Risk

Venous ThromboembolismCovid19

Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is now a leading cause of death among U.S. adults. In addition to profound respiratory and multi-organ failure, hypercoagulable states and venous thromboembolism (VTE) have been increasingly reported in patients with severe Covid-19. The aim of this study is evaluate the risk of VTE related to Covid-19 infection in a real-world community-based population.

Michigan Medicine COVID-19 Cohort: Clinical Characteristics, Inflammatory Markers and Outcomes of...

Covid19Kidney Diseases2 more

To better understand the role of inflammation in COVID-19, we established the Michigan Medicine COVID-19 Cohort (M2C2). M2C2 is a funded and ongoing cohort which has currently enrolled over 1500 adult patients (≥18 years) with severe COVID-19 admitted at the University of Michigan. The purpose of M2C2 is to define the in-hospital course of these patients and understand the role of inflammation as a determinant of organ injury and outcomes in COVID-19.

Post-partum Depression, Breastfeeding Adherence and Fear in COVID-19

Breast FeedingExclusive2 more

This study aims to explore whether quarantine measures, social distancing and hospital containment policies among women giving birth during the COVID-19 pandemic enhanced psycho-emotional distress in the immediate postpartum period. The investigators tested for depression using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) in the first 6 postpartum months, and then used the Fear of COVID-19 Scale, measuring also the adherence and practices of breastfeeding according to WHO.

Incidence of VAP in Patients With Severe COVID-19

Ventilator Associated PneumoniaCovid19

Combined retrospective and prospective cohort study to evaluate the incidence of microbiologically confirmed VAP in mechanically ventilated patients with COVID-19. In the retrospective part, microbiological data are based on bi-weekly surveillance ETA. In the prospective part, microbiological data are based on ETA and BAL performed on VAP suspicion. In the prospective part, immunological and virological analyses will be performed on biological samples (blood, respiratory tract) collected from patients at VAP diagnosis.

Lung Ultrasound Signs and Patterns in COVID-19 Pregnant Women

Pregnancy ComplicationsCovid19

SARS-CoV-2 impact on pregnant women is not well known yet. Some authors demonstrated that lung ultrasound can give similar results if compared to chest computed tomography and better results if compared to chest x-rays without radiations and limited risks for mother and fetus. The Lung Ultrasound Score (LUS) can be used to asses the entity and monitor the evolution of lung impairment. Some authors described an artifact, the "light beam", as a typical ultrasound sign in COVID-19 positive patients. With our study we hypothesize to understand the prevalence of this sign and other ultrasound signs in pregnant COVID-19 positive patients.
