On March 12, 2020, an initiative called the Global Alliance for COVID-19 in Rheumatology (The COVID-19 Rheumatology Alliance) arises, as a rapid response of international coordination whose ultimate goal is to serve as help or guideline for all those doctors who seek be faced with receiving, evaluating, understanding and caring for a patient with rheumatological and / or autoimmune diseases in relation to the imminent risk of COVID-19.

The Effect of Diabetes Mellitus on the Prognosis of Patients With COVID-19

All hospitalised patients with COVID-19 who have positive RT-PCR for SARS-COV-2 will be included in the study. The patients will be divided into two groups, as diabetics and non-diabetics. The COVID-19 patients' medical records will be evaluated and compared in terms of the duration of hospitalization, the presence of lung involvement in Computerised Tomography, the need for intensive care unit and mortality rates in patients with and without diabetes.

Prognostic Factors and Outcomes of COVID-19 Cases in Ethiopia

The aim of the study will be to determine the epidemiological and clinical features of COVID-19 cases, immunological and virological courses, interaction with nutritional status, and response to treatment for COVID-19 patients admitted to treatment centers in Ethiopia. Methods: This multi-site cohort enrolls, patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection admitted to treatment centers will be enrolled irrespective of their symptoms and followed up for 12 months. Baseline epidemiological, clinical, laboratory and imaging data will be collected from treatment records, interviews, physical measurements and biological samples. Endline data involves treatment and prognostic outcomes to be measured using different biomarkers and clinical parameters, The patients will be followed up in the selected treatment centers for COVID-19 infection. For all data collected both descriptive and multivariable analyses will be performed to isolated determinants of the treatment outcome and prognosis to generate relevant information for informed prevention and case management.

The healthcare system is wrestling with a virus that threatens to overwhelm hospital capacity, while simultaneously confronting an unprecedented reduction in elective and non-essential care. A survey by the American Cancer Society showed that 50% of cancer patients and survivors reported some impact to their healthcare due to the COVID-19 epidemic. A recent survey was conducted by Forbes et al to evaluate the changes in GI and endoscopy practices in North America. However, the impact of this epidemic on Pulmonology units ( bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, ultrsonography and sleep lab) globally has not been studied.

This research study will evaluate the association of Androgen Receptor (AR) gene expression and COVID-19 disease severity and mortality. The research procedure involves collection of a single saliva sample which will be mailed to the participants by the study team. This saliva will be used in a COVID-19 Androgen Sensitivity Test (CoVAST) which will detect AR gene expression. Eligible participants are males, at least 18 years or older, and have tested positive for COVID-19.

Alsace was particularly and early on affected by SARS-CoV-2 and quickly implemented a reduction in scheduled admissions and non-urgent surgical interventions, making it possible to reduce requests for labile blood products linked to non-urgent surgical procedures. as has been reported in the literature; the population containment measures also led to a major reduction in traffic - and consequently accidents on the public roads. At the same time, other demands for blood products related to activities such as onco-hematology were little affected. Finally, the blood banks have adapted their collection procedure. To answer these questions, we propose to conduct a retrospective study over two parallel periods of 2019 and 2020 of the consumption of blood products on the one hand and the availability of stocks on the other hand.
