Modulation of the Surgical Inflammatory Response by Etoricoxib

PainOsteoarthritis2 more

The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that orally administered etoricoxib (COX-2) modulates prostaglandin and cytokine synthesis in the central nervous system (CNS) and in the periphery in surgical patients and thus reduces pain and suffering.

The Efficacy Study of Sodium Hyaluronate to Treat Symptomatic Hip Osteoarthritis

Symptomatic Hip Osteoarthritis

To demonstrate the difference in terms of symptomatic efficacy between ADANT® sodium hyaluronate and placebo following an intra-articular injection in patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis of the hip. Each patient will receive an injection of sodium hyaluronate or placebo in the symptomatic hip and will be followed up for three months. At the third month, if the score for overall pain is still > 40 mm on the VAS, a second injection of ADANT® can be given irrespective of which treatment was received previously. The patient will be followed up for a further 3 months in an open-label fashion (monthly visits).

Usability and Effectiveness of ReHub in Patients After Total Hip Arthroplasty

Hip Osteoarthritis

This is a randomized, non-blinded, parallel assignment, clinical trial for the evaluation of usability and effectiveness of ReHub, a telerehabilitation system made up of a cloud platform and an exercise kit with smart sensors, for performing rehabilitation exercises after a primary Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA). Patients admitted to Presidio San Camillo after a THA surgery are randomly allocated to the control arm or the experimental arm with a 1:1 ratio. Participants in both arms receive inpatient care and rehabilitation for 2 weeks at San Camillo. At discharge, they are prescribed with the same daily plan of 5 exercises for autonomous home-based rehabilitation. The experimental arm participants use ReHub to do their exercises instead of working independently and physiotherapists monitor their performance and adherence remotely. Outcomes assessment is performed at San Camillo admission (baseline), at San Camillo discharge (2 weeks from baseline) and 3 weeks after San Camillo discharge (5 weeks from baseline).

Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate Use in Hip Osteoarthritis

OsteoarthritisHip

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of combined Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) action after a single hip intraarticular injection to young symptomatic patients with primary radiologic stage of hip OA (Kellgren-Lawrence grade I or II) compared to a control local anesthetic with cortisone injection group of patients. The hypothesis is that the patients with hip OA will benefit more and for longer from OA symptoms in the BMAC and PRP group rather than in the group of local anaesthetic and cortisone. Furthermore, this study could be valuable in determining the safety and effectiveness of the BMAC and PRP combined injection for early low grade hip OA in young active patients who are neither good candidates for total hip replacement nor preservative hip surgery.
