Evaluation of Dental and Skeletal Effect of TPA and Nance as a Space Maintainers in Children: A...
Dental MalocclusionThis study will aim to evaluate the dental and skeletal effect of the Transpalatal arch and Nance holding arch as a space maintainers in children.
A Cohort Prospective Study of Predictors Influencing the Quality of Visualization of the Operating...
MalocclusionMaxillofacial Injuries2 moreIt is very important to decrease the bleeding during bimaxillary osteotomy in order to increase the visibility of the surgical site. Our primary goal is to investigate the predictive value of pre- and perioperative factors, including controlled hypotension, on visibility of surgical site during bimaxillary osteotomy.
Periodontal Parameters in Orthodontic Patients With Stainless Steel and Ceramic Brackets.
Periodontal InflammationDental MalocclusionThe aim of this study is to assess if there are significant differences in periodontal conditions between patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment with stainless steel or ceramic brackets. For this study, patients will be enrolled and divided into two groups, according to the type of brackets (stainless steel or ceramic) used for orthodontic treatment. A professional supragingival and subgingival oral hygiene will be performed before the bonding of the orthodontic brackets together with a periodontal evaluation will be recording the following periodontal indices: PPD, BoP, BS, GI, PI, BEWE and Schiff Air Index. Indices will be recorded after 1, 3 and 6 months after the bonding, separately for both in maxillary and in mandibular dental arches and only for teeth with brackets bonded.

Dental MalocclusionA clinical study to evaluate the accuracy of computer software in predicting soft tissue profile changes in patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment
The Effect of Malocclusions on Oral Health Related Quality of Life
MalocclusionQuality of Life3 moreMalocclusions in adolescents may affect oral health related quality of life. The study aims at; Evaluating two instruments measuring oral health related quality of life; "Child Perceptions Questionnaire 11-14" (CPQ 11-14) short form and "Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire" (PIDAQ). Comparing differences in oral health related quality of life in; adolescents with different types of malocclusion and without malocclusions individuals of different genders and socioeconomic status Longitudinally evaluating differences in oral health related quality of life; before, during and after orthodontic treatment in untreated individuals (without malocclusion) over time
Premolar Extractions for Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Children With Overjet
Obstructive Sleep ApneaMalocclusionThis research aims to provide pediatric patients with polysomnography (a sleep study) before and after orthodontic treatment to determine if the extraction of upper premolars for treating excessive overjet results in an increase of the AHI (Apnea Hypopnea Index) compared to similar patients treated without upper premolar extractions.
Oral Health for Healthy Cognitive Aging
MalocclusionDementiaOral health is a critical factor of systemic health, although usually forgotten. A potential relation between cognitive deficits and oral diseases has been suggested. Adult cognitive dysfunctions have a high impact, not only economic, but social and in the family environment. Based on anatomical connectivity between the oral cavity and the central nervous system, the proposed study hypothesizes that masticatory function is a relevant determinant of human cognitive health. The restoration of canonical masticatory function and masticatory training could help to delay the development of such conditions. This project will also test if restoring phasic masticatory function improves the execution of cognitive tasks.
Carriere Motion Appliance* Versus In-office Sectional Appliance
Angle Class 2 MalocclusionThe "sagittal first" approach to Class II correction in orthodontic treatment involves correcting the antero-posterior (AP) relationship of the maxillary and mandibular dentition prior to the leveling and aligning phase of orthodontic treatment. The Carriere Motion Appliance (CMA) was made to provide sagittal correction prior to orthodontic treatment with minimal secondary tooth movements that are typically seen with Class II correction. The aim in this study is to explore the efficacy and efficiency of Class II molar correction in adolescent patients using the sagittal first approach with either a sectional, in-office fabricated appliance or the CMA, by measuring total treatment duration (in months) as well as comparing dental and skeletal measurements taken from lateral cephalometric radiographs obtained prior to Class II correction (T0) and immediately after removal of the appliance (T1). The investigators will also be comparing secondary molar and canine rotational movements after Class II correction by comparing digital dental casts obtained at T0 and T1.

MalocclusionThe aim of this study is to determine efficacy of OrthoPulse photobiomodulation on the rate of tooth movement during alignment for Subjects receiving fixed appliance orthodontic treatment.
Early Treatment for Class II Division 1 Malocclusion With Twicare® and Herbst Removable Appliances...
MalocclusionAngle Class II1 moreThe aim of this prospective, multicentric, randomized, open-label study is to assess the efficacy of the removable Twicare® as mandibular propulsive appliance in children aged from 7 to 12 years old in the course of their orthodontic treatment, showing its noninferiority with the removable Herbst. One untreated group will be included to control the internal validity of the study as recommend in noninferiority trials. Patients will have a follow-up every two months during 6 to 12 months as planned in routine care.
