Association of Cytokines With the Development of Complications in Burn and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis...
Inflammatory ResponseMulti Organ Failure2 moreThis study will involve blood draws to test for specific cytokines. The study goal is to gain a better understanding of the role of inflammatory response in the development of specific complications in burn and TENS patients.
Infections Following NeuroSurgery (INS)
Infections Nervous SystemNosocomial Infection2 moreNeurosurgery (NS) is essential for the treatment of various diseases such as malignant tumors, vascular conditions, spinal stenosis or trauma. However, NS can be complicated by the onset of infections, directly related to surgery or to hospitalization. Little is known regarding the epidemiology, the optimal treatment regimens and the outcome of infections following NS (I-NS). The study aims at investigating the clinical and microbiological characteristics as well as the outcomes of I-NS occurring at a single Institution (IRCCS Neuromed, Pozzilli, Italy) during the period 2016-2018. Patients with at least 1 infective episode requiring antimicrobial therapy are included in this retrospective observational study.
Epidemiological Investigation of CRBSI, VAP, CAUTI in Chinese ICU
Nosocomial InfectionThe current protocol desires to implement a large-multicenter observational study of hospital acquired infection in ICU in China. The study will generate data on generate data about the epidemiology current management of nosocomial infection.
Infection Surveillance in Intensive Care Patients
InfectionPneumonia2 morePurpose of the study is to investigate and quantify known and possible new riskfactors for nosocomiel infection and death in the intensive care setting. As new riskfactors Mannose Binding Lechtin and Procalcitonin are chosen and compared to established riskfactors.
Linezolid-resistant Staphylococcus Epidermidis in ICU and Risk Factors Analysis
Health Care Associated InfectionAntibiotic Resistant Strain1 moreUnderstanding the emergence of linezolid-resistance in Staphylococci has been allowed in the past years through the discovery of the clonal dissemination of a chromosomal cassette carrying a modified crf gene. New mutations have even been described. Though, clinical evidences are still lacking, especially concerning the factors associated to this emergence. It could seriously become quite problematic to eliminate one of the last therapeutic weapon at our disposal for the treatment of severe or complicated infections caused by resistant strains of Staphylococci and Enterococci. We aim to describe the mechanisms that permitted to this resistance to become clinically significant, concerning meticillin-resistant Staphyloccocus epidermidis strains causing blood stream infections in ICU patients, and show the clinical risk factors associated with it through a case-control study on patients hospitalized in two ICUs of our hospital between 2011 and 2016.
Multicenter Trial of Daily Chlorhexidine Bathing to Reduce Nosocomial Infections
Nosocomial BacteremiaMRSA Colonization3 moreTo determine if daily bathing with chlorhexidine impregnated washcloths will reduce the incidence of MRSA and VRE within an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or ward setting.
