Mandibular Advancement Clear Aligner Treatment in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Subjects

Juvenile Idiopathic ArthritisMalocclusion1 more

There is currently no information on how mandibular advancement therapy could influence three-dimensionally the condylar and mandibular morphology in growing patients affected by Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). Therefore, the aim is to assess the three-dimensional morphological mandibular changes produced by the Invisalign® Mandibular Advancement (MA) (Align Technology, San José, CA, USA) in growing subjects affected by juvenile idiopathic arthritis with unilateral and bilateral JIA and to compare them with not-JIA control subjects

Impact of Photobiomodulation on Pain During Orthodontic Treatment.

MalocclusionOrthodontic Treatment

The objective of this study is to determine to effect of PBM Ortho, a photobiomodulation device, in adult patients undergoing clear aligners orthodontic treatment. We hypothesize that PBM Ortho will reduced the orthodontic associated pain in the clear aligner patients. This effect will be evaluated by recording the pain on visual analog scale given to the patients before the placement of clear aligners and collecting saliva.

The Efficacy of Lingual Aligners in Adults.

MalocclusionAngle Class I

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the effectiveness of lingual aligners in adults. The main question to answer is: - Are lingual aligners effective in achieving desired and predicted tooth movements?

Orthognathic Speech Pathology: Phonetic Contrasts of Patients With Dental Discrepancies Pre- and...

Dentofacial AbnormalitiesDentofacial Deformities9 more

The investigators are studying how speech is effected by jaw and tooth position in jaw surgery patients. Eighty percent of our jaw surgery patients have speech pathologies, compared to five percent of the general population, but speech pathologists do not understand why. The investigators hypothesize that open bites and underbites prevent most patients from being able to pronounce words normally and surgical correction will lead to improvement in speech. Patients will be audio recorded speaking and patients' tongue gestures ultrasound recorded before and after their jaw surgeries to observe what changes occur in their speech and tongue movements.

Impact of Clear Aligners and Metal Brackets on Nutritional Status

Malocclusion

This study aims to investigate the effect of clear aligners and traditional brackets on the nutritional status of orthodontic patients. With the increasing demand for more aesthetic and comfortable orthodontic appliances among adults, clear aligner treatment has gained popularity as an alternative to traditional fixed appliances. However, limited research has been conducted to evaluate the impact of clear aligners on dietary habits and nutrition. The study will include adult participants undergoing orthodontic treatment with either clear aligners or traditional brackets. Anthropometric measurements, dietary assessments, and oral health impact evaluations will be conducted to assess the nutritional status of the participants. The findings of this study will contribute to a better understanding of the influence of orthodontic appliances on nutrition and guide clinicians in providing comprehensive care to orthodontic patients.

Evaluation of Muscle Activity in Unilateral Posterior Crossbite

MalocclusionMuscle Activity1 more

Posterior crossbite (PCB) is defined as the presence of one or more teeth of the posterior group (canine to third molar) in an inverted buccolingual relationship, where the vestibular cusp of the upper tooth is in contact with the central fossa of its lower antagonist tooth. It is one of the most common malocclusions in children, with a prevalence of 8 to 22% among orthodontic patients in primary and mixed dentition and 5 to 15% among the general population. It can be bilateral (MCPB) or unilateral (MCPU). In 71-84% of cases, CCM in growing patients appears as a functional CCBM and is therefore associated with a functional mandibular deviation. The hypothesis of this study is, that unilateral posterior crossbite correction by Rapid Maxillary expansion achieves improved symmetry and muscle activation potential in treated patients. The objective of this study is to evaluate the muscle activity of masticatory muscles in patients with unilateral posterior crossbite with superficial electromyography before and after treatment with rapid maxillary expansion. Superficial electromyography will be measured in masseter and temporalis muscle before treatment, when the patients bite is corrected and after the treatment. Three static and two dynamic tasks will be measured.

Comparison of Precision in Brackets Position in Two Indirect Bonding Materials

Orthodontic Appliance ComplicationMalocclusion

Objective: To compare the cementation precision of self-ligating brackets between two indirect bonding materials: polyvinylsiloxane and thermal glue. Methods: Split-mouth randomized clinical trial study, with 15 participants. The study will be divided into two groups, Group 1: Polyvinylsiloxane and Group 2: Thermal glue.

Comparison of Orthodontic Molar Protraction With and Without Adjunctive Surgery

Malocclusion

This study will compare orthodontic molar protraction with and without adjunctive periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontic (PAOO) surgery prior to orthodontic tooth movement. To the investigators' knowledge, this type of molar retraction in adult patients has not been compared with and without the adjunctive use of PAOO for differences in clinical linear tooth movement and patient centered outcomes (discomfort, change in daily activities, satisfaction with esthetic outcomes) in a controlled study.
