Hearing LossCochlear implants require programming on an individual basis to provide appropriate levels of electrical stimulation. This program, or "map", is placed in the speech processor of the cochlear implant. Success of implantation largely depends on the adequacy of this map. Cochlear implant fitting remains a difficult challenge in congenitally or pre-linguistically deafened children. It requires competence of experienced audiologists with expertise in behavioral techniques for hearing function assessment.Our goal is to establish the offset correlation between objective measurements (NRT and ESRT) and the behavioral measurements of T & Cs in different stimulation rates in the Freedom SP System.

In the absence of management options, this research study aims to see if bone conduction headphones either paired (via bluetooth) to a microphone or an app will help children with a hearing loss during this period of waiting. The child's quality of life is measured with validated questionnaires The study is over 3 months, and delivered remotely, with the product being sent to the family home and support offered via telephone/ video consulattion.

Hearing LossBehavior Disorders1 moreDespite being more likely than typical hearing children to experience disruptive behavior problems, children who are deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) rarely receive behavioral interventions to prevent the long-term costly outcomes of behavior problems. This pilot project will systematically adapt an evidence-based behavioral parent training (BPT) intervention to increase its acceptability and relevance for parents of young DHH children. Two parents of DHH children will be trained in the adapted BPT for DHH children. They will each deliver the intervention to five families with DHH preschool-aged children.

Additionally, the prevalence of dementia in France is close to 1% (850 000 dements for a total population of 65 millions). The prevalence of dementia in pre-lingual deaf adults has also been described and is between 1 and 1.4 /100 000 habitants. The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) of Folstein is a test recommended to perform the cognitive evaluation for the detection of mental disorders including dementia, and a consensual French version exists prepared by GRECO (Group of Research and Cognitive Assessments). However, to date, there are no simple, rapid and validated screening tests to study cognitive disorders in deaf persons who use the sign language. The only tests available allow a late diagnosis avoiding an optimal treatment of the patients.

Hearing LossTinnitus3 moreA randomized controlled study with hearing impaired workers, who have voluntarily signed up for an 8 session cognitive therapy (CBT) course The CBT intervention will be compared to a waiting list control group. Participants who are allocated to the intervention group will be offered to start on the CBT-course immediately, while the control group that will be offered the same course 12 months later. Main outcome measures are assessments of mental distress and vocational coping. We will also assess the distress associated with tinnitus, which is a potential moderator variable.
