Examining the Association Between Pre-existing Sleep Disturbance and Postoperative Delirium
DeliriumThe investigators are performing this research study to understand the role of sleep disturbance on the incidence/severity of delirium after surgery. The investigators will study the brain using a polysomnography device (PSG), which records the brain's electrical activity during sleep.
Perioperative Risk Factors for Intensive Care Delirium After Cardiac Surgery
DeliriumThe aim of the study is to identify the incidence of early postoperative delirium in intensive care patients after cardiac surgery and detect possible risk factors associated with increased risk for developing delirium after cardiac surgery.
The Association Between SIRI and POD in Older Patients
Postoperative DeliriumElderly1 morePostoperative delirium (POD) remains one of most common complication in elderly patients receiving surgery, which is characterized by acute and fluctuating change in the level of cognition and consciousness. Previous studies have shown that surgery and anesthesia-induced acute peripheral inflammation and neuroinflammation may lead to delirium after surgery. Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) is a more easily accessible and comprehensive inflammation marker derived from monocyte, neutrophil, and lymphocyte count, which has been investigated to assess the prognosis of cancer and infectious diseases. However, the relationship between SIRI and POD has yet to be investigated.
Intraoperative Sedation and Postoperative Delirium
OrthopedicsDelirium are common after orthopedic surgery in the elderly and are directly associated with loss of independence, reduction in the quality of life and increased mortality. The cause of postoperative delirium still remains unclear and may be multifactorial. The aim of this retrospective study is to examine prevalence of postoperative delirium according to the use of dexmedetomidine or propofol in elderly patients undergoing orthopedic surgery under regional anesthesia.
Feasibility of a Software App for Testing Inattention in Delirium
DeliriumThis qualitative study aims to evaluate the usability of a smartphone application called DelApp. The study will assess usability and acceptability of the software app by asking 40 clinicians to administer the DelApp assessment to consented patient and clinicians. Feedback will be collected through semi-structured interviews with the clinicians. The feedback will be used to optimise the software application in preparation for formal validations studies.
DElirium prediCtIon in the intenSIve Care Unit: Head to Head comparisON of Two Delirium Prediction...
DeliriumCurrently, two ICU delirium prediction models are available: the PRE-DELIRIC model and the early prediction model (E-PRE-DELRIC). However, the use of these prediction models is not yet implemented as standard in clinical practice, as it is unknown which delirium prediction model can best be used to predict delirium in ICU patients. Therefore the main aim of this study is to compare the performance of the PRE-DELIRIC model and the E-PRE-DELRIC model.
Instruments for Delirium Assessment Regarding to Analgesia Sedation and Ventilator Status
DeliriumIn this prospective, multicenter observational study we assess the diagnostic validity of the following standard screening instruments for delirium regarding sedation, analgesia and ventilator status in critically ill patients: Confusion Assessment Method for the ICU (CAM-ICU) Intensive Care Delirium Screening Checklist (ICDSC) Nursing-Delirium-Screening-Scale (Nu-DESC) The definite delirium diagnosis (definite in terms of reference standard) is made according to the criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 4th Edition, text revised (DSM-IV-TR) published by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) which is the Gold Standard to diagnose delirium. Primary research question: Does sedation, ventilator status and analgesia influence the sensitivity of delirium screening tools (DST)?
Incidence, Long- Term Outcome and Factor Related to Non- Cardiac Postoperative Delirium in Elderly...
Postoperative DeliriumThe purpose of this study is to determine the incidence, long term outcome and factor related to postoperative delirium in elderly patients after non-cardiac surgery.
International Validation of a Delirium Prediction Model for ICU Patients
DeliriumRecently our ICU research group developed and validated a delirium prediction model in the NetherlandsThis. This model has a high predictive value. We want to examine what the predictive value is in ICUs of other European countries.
International Multicenter Study One Day Prevalence Observational Study for Delirium on ICU
DeliriumAn anonymous international multicenter - clinical survey, one-day observational study.
