Association of Anticholinergic Burden With Onset of Delirium in Older Adults With Alzheimer Dementia:...
DeliriumAnticholinergic Adverse Reaction1 moreDrugs with anticholinergic properties are commonly prescribed to older persons despite growing evidence of their significant adverse effects. However, limited data are available concerning their contribution to time of onset of delirium. This study aimed to determine the potential association of higher anticholinergic burden to early-onset of delirium superimposed dementia in the older adult.

Preoperative Intervention to Reduce Delirium After Cardiac Surgery
Cardiac SurgeryThis research is designed for experimental quantitative research and is conducted by simple random sampling. Both the control group and the experimental group provided preoperative routine nursing treatment and preoperative medical teaching manuals. The latter adds cognitive therapy and gamification evaluation. Both groups used CAM-ICU to assess the occurrence and duration of postoperative delirium, and DRS-R-98 was used to assess the severity of delirium. After collection, use SPSS 22.0 statistical software package for analysis and processing. The expected result is that the incidence of delirium, the duration of delirium, and the severity of delirium in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group.
Cerebral Oxygen Desaturation and Post-Operative Delirium in Thoracic Surgical Patients
DeliriumThoracic SurgeryThis study will assess the incidence and risk factors for post-operative delirium in patients undergoing thoracotomy. Specifically, the study will assess if there is any relationship between an intra-operative decrease in brain oxygen levels which can occur during one-lung ventilation, and the occurrence of delirium in the post-operative period.
Protocol for Observational Study of Post op Delirium Following Total Joint Arthroplasties
Postoperative DeliriumThe incidence of post-operative delirium in the South-east Asian population is not known. Through a prospective, single centre, observational study, the investigators aim to characterize the incidence and risk factors of delirium in older adults undergoing elective total joint arthroplasties (TJA). The study will recruit eligible patients (65 - 90 years old undergoing elective TJA), with a targeted sample size of 500. Patients will be screened for dementia and Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) scores obtained pre and post operatively. Other data such as preoperative Charlson comorbidity index (CCI), post op complications using Post operative Morbidity Survey (POMS), pain scores, readmission rates and length of hospital stay (LOS), functional and health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL) will also be collected and analysed.
Postanesthesia Cognitive Recovery and Neuropsychologic Complications
Anesthesia Recovery PeriodDelirium4 moreThe study proposes to analyze the difference in the rapidity of the recovery of post operative cognition immediately after extubation and 20, 40 and 60 minutes post extubation and neuropsychological complications (delirium) after 48 hours following general anesthesia using a prospective, randomized approach. Patients undergoing any type of surgery with the exception of cranial, cardiac or thoracic surgery can be enrolled in the study.

DeliriumThe purpose of this study is to introduce delirium detection and try to determine the prevalence of delirium in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) using a validated tool : the Cornell Assessment of Pediatric Delirium (CAPD) for every patient twice a day.
Brief Delirium Assessments in Non-Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Patients
DeliriumDelirium is an acute confusional state characterized by fluctuating mental status, inattention, and either disorganized thinking or an altered level of consciousness. This form of organ dysfunction occurs in up to 50% of hospitalized patients and is associated with worsening mortality, prolonged hospital length of stay, higher health care costs, and accelerated functional and cognitive decline. Despite the negative consequences of delirium, the majority of cases are unrecognized by hospital physicians because it is not routinely screened for. In an effort to facilitate delirium screening, we sought to validate two brief delirium assessments (<2 minutes) in the hospital setting.
