Safety Study of Nicotinamide to Treat Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to determine whether nicotinamide, or vitamin B3, is safe and effective in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
Treatment With Copper in Patients With Mild Alzheimer´s Dementia
Alzheimer´s DiseaseThe efficacy of 8 mg of copper daily regarding cognitive function, content of beta amyloid protein in the CSF and volumetric changes in the brain will be examined in a first double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trial conducted in 70 patients with mild Alzheimer´s dementia.
A Trial of SK-PC-B70M in Mild to Moderate Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to find optimistic dose and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SK-PC-B70M in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.
The Dementia Study in Northern Norway
Alzheimer DiseaseThe Dementia Study in Northern Norway is an open controled intervention trial carried out in nine rural municipalities, five of which allocated to intervention and four to control. A RCT with donepezil and placebo is superimposed on all patients included in the study. In this way the study has a 2x2 factorial design. The outcome measures are changes in cognitive performance and ADL function measured by standardized cognitive and neuropsychological tests every four months during a one-year follow-up. The main goal of this study is to examine the effect of systematically and individually adjusted stimulation therapy on cognitive function in patients having recent diagnoses of Alzheimer´s disease (AD). A secondary goal is to examine whether or not ChEI has an additional effect on cognitive function superimposed on stimulation therapy. From January 2006 to 31th March 2008 187 patients with a recent diagnosis of dementia were included. Patients were recruited by GPs in routine practice (n=87) and by a population based screening (n=100).Screening recruited younger patients with a higher MMSE-score, and relatively more men. All over, women were older and at a more serious disease stage. After age adjusting significantly more women were living single and required more supports from the community nursery.
Study Evaluating ACC-001 In Subjects With Mild To Moderate Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer DiseaseTo access the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of ACC-001, an investigational active immunization, in subjects with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.
Effects of Doxycycline and Rifampicin on Biomarkers of Alzheimer's Disease in the Cerebrospinal...
Alzheimer's DiseaseThis study will determine if biomarkers found in the cerebrospinal fluid of people with Alzheimer's disease, are affected by treatment with two common antibiotics, doxycycline and rifampicin, suggesting a disease-modifying effect of those treatments.
A Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial to Examine the Efficacy of Oral Donepezil in Subjects With...
Alzheimer's DiseaseTo purpose of this study is to estimate the effect of donepezil on Neuropsychological Testing (NPT) and brain Proton Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy.
Evaluation of [123I]CLINDE and SPECT as a Marker of Inflammation in Subjects With PD or AD and in...
Parkinson DiseaseAlzheimer Disease2 moreTo assess the dynamic uptake and washout of 123-I CLINDE, a potential imaging biomarker for inflammatory changes in brain, using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) in similarly aged healthy controls and subjects with Alzheimer (AD) or Parkinson disease (PD). To perform blood metabolite characterization of 123-I CLINDE in healthy and subjects with AD or PD to determine the nature of metabolites in assessment of 123-I CLINDE as a single photon computed tomography (SPECT) brain imaging agent. Evaluate the test/retest reproducibility of 123-I CLINDE, and SPECT in AD and PD subjects and healthy controls
Study Evaluating the Safety, Pharmacokinetics, and Pharmacodynamics of SAM-531
Alzheimer DiseaseTo assess the safety and tolerability of ascending multiple oral doses of SAM-531, an investigational drug, in healthy Japanese young male and elderly subjects. To provide the pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) profiles of multiple oral doses of SAM-531 in healthy Japanese young male and elderly subjects.
Preliminary Study of Fish Oil and Dementia
Alzheimer's DiseaseMild Cognitive ImpairmentThis preliminary study is aimed to investigate whether it is feasible to conduct a study to use fish oil compared to the placebo(olive oil) in people with cognitive impairment. We will also explore whether fish oil has better efficacy in some clinical aspects in people with cognitive impairment during 24 weeks intervention. The major clinical outcome will be: general clinical impression cognitive function
