WeArable Neuromodulation DeVice for the TrEatment of Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer DiseaseThis is a double-blinded, controlled, randomized clinical trial (RCT) to establish the safety and efficacy of a non-invasive neuromodulation device for treating symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Assessment of Initial Efficacy and Safety of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound 'ExAblate 4000 Type...
Alzheimer DiseaseThe proposed study is to evaluate initial efficacy and safety of the BBB disruption with transcranial MRI-guided focused ultrasound (ExAblate 4000 type 2.0) in patients with Alzheimer's disease. This study iw designed as a prospective, single-site, single-aarm, nonrandomized study. Assessments will be made before and three months after 2 sessions of BBB disruption with radiologic, nuclear medicine imaging and neurophysiological examinations. Relative safety will be evaluated using a common description of Significant Clinical Complications for patients treated in this study.
Amyloid Imaging With 11C-PiB in Healthy Aging and Mild Cognitive Impairment
Alzheimer DiseaseHealthy AgingThe purpose of this study is to measure the amount of amyloid in the brain. Amyloid is a protein found in the brain of patients with Alzheimer's disease and can be detected using a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan. This study is interested in how amyloid levels in the brain relate to memory and thinking abilities.
The MObile AssessMENT of Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia in Amnestic MCI and AD...
Alzheimer DiseaseMild Memory Disturbance1 moreThe purpose of this research study is to learn whether it is possible and useful for caregivers to report behavioral or psychological symptoms of people with mild memory problems or Alzheimer's disease through a smartphone mobile application. The investigators believe that monitoring these symptoms and having a tool, like a mobile application, can provide quicker accessibility to the patient's clinical care team, which could improve care for patients and caregivers. These types of symptoms found in patients with mild memory problems or Alzheimer's disease are any type of psychiatric symptoms or abnormal behaviors one might develop as the result of these brain illnesses. Examples of psychological and behavioral symptoms are depression, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, agitation, and hallucinations. These symptoms differ from regular psychiatric symptoms, because they are caused by mild memory problems or Alzheimer's disease (AD). These symptoms can cause a lot of distress for patients and caregivers, and can lead to greater use of healthcare services.
Mirtazapine for Sleep Disorders in Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's DiseaseSleep DisordersThe purpose of this study is to determine whether mirtazapine is effective in the treatment of sleep disorders in Alzheimers disease.
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Apathy Treatment in Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's DiseaseApathyWe aim to evaluate the safety and efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for apathy treatment in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). We hypothesize that rTMS will be superior to placebo to reduce apathy symptoms and severity in patients with AD.
The Role of Mid-Life Adiposity in Functional Brain Connectivity
Alzheimer's DiseaseThe purpose of the study is to use functional MRI (fMRI) to measure brain connectivity in middle-aged individuals with different levels of body fat. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop an early diagnostic tool for Alzheimer's disease.
Evaluation of Effects of Multiple Dose Regimens of CHF 5074 on Potential Biomarkers of Neurodegeneration...
Alzheimer's DiseaseTo evaluate the effects of multiple dose regimens of CHF 5074 administered once per day up to 2 years on potential biomarkers of neurodegeneration in subjects with mild cognitive impairment.
Follow-up Study to Evaluate Long-term Safety and Tolerability of Immunization With AD03 Applied...
Alzheimer's DiseaseThis is a phase Ib follow-up study to evaluate long-term safety and tolerability of immunization with AFFITOPE AD03 applied during AFFiRiS 005A.
Trial of Novel Oral Zinc Cysteine Preparation in Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's DiseaseMild Cognitive ImpairmentThis trial aims to test the hypothesis that 1) a single dose of zinc cysteine in a proprietary gastro-retentive form will produce sustained blood levels of zinc giving a larger bioavailable amount of zinc than an FDA approved preparation of inorganic zinc acetate; and 2) that the zinc cysteine gastro-retentive, sustained-release preparation will be better tolerated with significantly less gastrointestinal side effects than the zinc acetate capsules. The trial also tests the hypothesis that, after 6 months of once daily administration, the zinc cysteine subjects will show reduced serum non-ceruloplasmin copper. Additionally, subjects will perform tests of mental function, including the dementia rating scale, the Mini Mental Status Examination and the ADAS-cognitive performance test aimed at Alzheimer's status assessment. Tests will be administered at baseline, 3 and 6 months, and the performance results compared. Care-giver assessments will also be noted.
