Remineralization of Early Carious Lesion Using Natural Agents Versus Bioadhesive Polymers

Dental Caries

This study will be conducted to evaluate: The remineralization potential of natural agents (egg shell powder and clove extract) versus bioadhesive polymers (carbopol and carboxymethyl cellulose) with or without PH cycling using microhardness test. The clinical efficacy of all agents in patients with early carious lesions.

Clinical Evaluation and Microbiological Assessment of Diode Laser and Chemical Disinfection in Comparison...

Patients With Deep Carious Lesions

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical and antimicrobial effect of Diode laser and chemical disinfection in comparison to selective caries removal in management of deep carious lesions. Methods: This study will be carried on 30 patients with an age range of 18 -50 years. The patients will be selected from the outpatient clinics in Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Misr International University. All patients will be randomly divided into 3 equal groups; Control group, Diode laser application with an output power of 0.5 watt group, and Chemical disinfection group. Preoperative clinical assessment and radiographs will be performed before intervention and then the patients will receive their treatment and final restorations. Follow-up with clinical assessments will be performed after 3 and 6 months. Cone beam computed tomography will be performed at the day of intervention and after 6 months. Clinical, Microbiological and Radiographic data will be collected, tabulated and statistically analyzed to compare between the success rates of diode laser, chemical disinfection and conventional selective caries removal.

Efficacy of 4% Articaine Terminal Anesthesia in the Lateral Jaw Region in Children

Dental CariesPrimary Teeth3 more

Optimal anesthesia is an essential requirement for successful dentoalveolar intervention. To achieve this goal, different anesthetic agents and techniques are available. Inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) remains the most commonly used anesthetic technique. However, after the worldwide approval of articaine, a relatively new local anesthetic with enhanced tissue diffusion properties, many studies on healthy volunteers have investigated the anesthetic efficacy of buccal articaine infiltration and IANB in the mandibular posterior teeth and reported comparable results. Infiltration anesthesia is technically more straightforward, less stressful to the patient, and associated with higher success and lower complication rates than block anesthesia. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of local infiltration anesthesia using 4% articaine in the analgesia of deciduous and permanent molars in children aged 5-18 years and mandibular premolars in children aged 10-18 years.

Effectiveness of the Ozone Application in Two-Visit Indirect Pulp Therapy of Permanent Molars With...

OzoneCaries

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and microbiological effectiveness of the ozone application in two-visit indirect pulp therapy. Materials and Methods: One hundred and five lower first molar teeth with deep caries lesion were included and randomly assigned three groups to apply two-visit indirect pulp therapy. Treatment procedure was applied without any disinfectant(control), with 60s 2% chlorhexidine digluconate(CHX) or 60s ozone application. In four different stage (after initial excavation, ozone/CHX application before the temporary restoration, four months later immediately after removing temporary restoration, and final excavation) dentin humidity, consistency and colour properties were recorded to evaluate the clinical characteristics of the tissue, and standard dentin samples were collected for the microbiological analysis of mutans streptococci, lactobacilli and the total number of colony forming units. The data were analyzed by using Mann-Whitney-U test for multiple comparisons.

Comparing Hall vs Conventional Technique in Placing Preformed Metal Crowns From Sudan

CariesDental

Preformed metal crowns (PMCs) have high success rates in restoring primary molars in children but they were not generally used by dentists, especially in developing countries due to its demand of high clinical skills with the conventional technique (CT). The biological approach, Hall technique (HT), requires less training and can be placed by less experienced dental operators including therapists. Previous studies were mainly carried out in developed countries. The aims were to investigate and compare the efficacies and cost-effectiveness of PMCs placed by these two techniques.

Experimental Research on Deep Carious Lesion Treatment of Molars

Dental Caries in Children

Maintaining dental pulp vitality is crucial for tooth preservation and functionality. Untreated dental caries may lead to pulp necrosis and infection, affecting children's growth and well-being. The first permanent teeth erupt around 6 years old. These are the first molars (FPM), which are frequently affected by caries, soon after their eruption. In the present application, our main goal is to determine whether two treatment groups (MTA and TheraCal) are long-term effective in preserving pulp vitality among children' FPM affected by deep caries.
