The aim of this study is to develop the clinical methodology to characterize the efficacy profiles of an experimental 5% potassium nitrate (KNO3) and 0.454% stannous fluoride (SnF2) combination dentifrice and a marketed desensitizing 0.454% SnF2 only dentifrice for the relief of dentin hypersensitivity (DH), at multiple time points, over an 8 week treatment period.

To investigate the effects of desensitizing agents on the dental bleaching process, testing the hypothesis that they may prevent dental sensitivity.

This study is for people with sensitive teeth and involves going to the dentist for 4 visits over 6 weeks. During the first 2 weeks, you will just brush your teeth two times a day with the fluoride toothpaste provided. Then you will be assigned to a group if you qualify to continue in the study. All groups will get a marketed toothpaste and one group will also get a mouthwash with an experimental ingredient. You will have an equal chance of being assigned to any one of the three groups. For the next 4 weeks, you will brush with your assigned toothpaste and rinse with your assigned mouthwash if assigned to the mouthwash group. A dentist will look at your mouth, teeth, tongue and gums and check for sensitive teeth. The investigators will see if the mouthwash helps to reduce tooth sensitivity during the study.

This study will investigate the efficacy of three diode laser wavelengths 445 nm, 660 nm, 970 nm when applied just before placement of composite restoration on reducing postoperative sensitivity from Non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) with class V cavity preparation.

Compare teeth sensitivity using bleaching protocol with different light intensities (Philips Zoom!™ White Speed whitening gel and lamp, Discus Dental, Inc., Culver City, CA, USA.) versus bleaching protocol with the same light intensity (Philips Zoom!™ Advanced Power whitening gel and lamp, Discus Dental, Inc., Culver City, CA, USA.).

This multicentre, non-comparative design study will monitor the impact of long term management of DH with daily use of a sensitivity toothpaste on the quality of life of a population of sensitivity sufferers. Changes in oral health related quality of life will be monitored using the Dentine Hypersensitivity Experience Questionnaire (DHEQ). The study will be conducted in participants in good general health, with pre-existing self-reported and clinically diagnosed tooth sensitivity at screening.

Then you will be assigned to a mouthwash group if you qualify to continue in the study. Two groups will get mouthwash with a certain amount of an experimental ingredient and one group will get a mouthwash with no experimental ingredients. You will have an equal chance of being assigned to any one of the three groups. For the next 6 weeks, you will rinse with your assigned mouthwash after brushing. A dentist will look at your mouth, teeth, tongue and gums and check for sensitive teeth. The investigators will see if the mouthwash helps to reduce tooth sensitivity during the study.

Tooth whitening is one of the most indicated aesthetic procedures in dentistry and there is evidence that it interferes with aspects of patients' quality of life. However, the sensitivity, associated with the post-procedure period, challenges clinicians and researchers. The use of topic desensitizing agents could be a alternative for the control of this adverse effects of bleaching agents. The objective of this randomized clinical study, therefore, is to evaluate the effect of glutaraldehyde-based desensitizing agent associated on tooth sensitivity and tooth color after bleaching with 35% hydrogen peroxide. 25 patients will be selected divided into two groups for a double-blind and split-mouth study. Among the results it is expected: that the use of glutaraldehyde desensitizing agent helps in the control of post-bleaching sensitivity, without harming the final color obtained of patients submitted to the proposed clinical protocol.

The aim of the study is to measure salivary fluoride and silver levels up to 7 days post-treatment. The participants will be 6 healthy adults. They will be given a fluoride free toothpaste to use the day before the study and all during the study. 3 participants will have 6 teeth treated (Group A).3 participants will have 28 teeth treated each on the facial aspect (Group B). On day 0, the participant will be given 25 ml of de-ionized fluoride free water to swish in the mouth and spit the entire contents into a 50 ml collection tube. This will be done 3 times. On day 0, 10 minutes after the rinsing and spitting, the participant will provide a unstimulated salivary sample into a universal collection tube until 5 ml are collected. The tubes with saliva will be stored on ice and then frozen at -20oC for transfer to the lab at the University of Washington. On Day 0, Isolation and application of silver fluoride. The quadrant will be isolated with cotton rolls, and surrounding gingiva will be covered with petroleum jelly to provide additional protection. After application, participant will be given 25 ml of fluoride free water to rinse as in 1 above and water collected. This will be done 10 times. DAY 1-6 Salivary Collection Measures: Fluoride will be measured using standard fluoride electrode analysis (Martinez-Mier et al., 2011). Silver will be measured using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (EPA 6020a Rev.1 2007) at the University of Washington

This study is for people with sensitive teeth and involves going to the dentist for 4 visits over 6 weeks. At each visit the dentist will look at the mouth, teeth, tongue and gums of subjects, and check for sensitive teeth. During the first 2 weeks, participants will brush their teeth two times a day with the fluoride toothpaste provided. Then, if they qualify to continue in the study, participants will be assigned to a treatment group. All the groups will get toothpaste currently sold on the market, and one group will get a mouthwash with an experimental ingredient to use as well. Subjects will have an equal chance of being assigned to any one of the three groups. For the next 4 weeks, subjects will use their assigned products according to the directions provided. At Visit 1 subjects will be supervised while they brush their teeth to ensure they understand the directions. They will also have supervised use of the product at Visit 2. We will see if the mouthwash helps to reduce tooth sensitivity during the study.
