This is a single center study that uses both between-group comparisons and correlational analyses to establish biomarkers of dysmyelination and cognitive impairment in Psychotic Spectrum Disorders using imaging and neuropsychological assays.The study will provide non-invasive biomarkers of cognitive dysfunction in Psychotic Spectrum Disorder.

The primary purpose of this study is to compare, over 24 months, the time spent with clinically significant mood symptoms (ie, mania, depression), as measured by the Longitudinal Interval Follow-Up Evaluation (LIFE) and the Psychiatric Status Rating Scale (PSR), in offspring of bipolar parents with and without at least mild impairment in psychosocial functioning.

The investigators aim to assess the dental status of psychiatric patients suffering from severe mental illness (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ptsd, resistant depression).

The overall goal of this study is to employ diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and tractography to investigate differences in connectivity in the rostral dorsal cingulum bundle (CB) in patients with bipolar disorder type I (BDI) or bipolar type II (BDII) compared to matched controls, and to utilize this information to determine if high-frequency deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the rostral dorsal CB has realistic potential as a therapy for producing mood stabilization in patients with BDI or BDII.
