Past Pain Experience and Perception of Experimental Pain
SchizophreniaMajor DepressionDifferences in pain perception between subjects with and without psychiatric illness may be influenced by the individual experience, and not primarily by the pathology, although the pathological frame may amplify it.The aim of this study is to establish if the characteristics of experimental pain feeling are influenced by the past pain experience, anxiety and emotion, independently from the diagnosis. The pain experience will be evaluated by an inventory of the potentially painful situations that one can come across through the life, to determine the following points : Number of painful events in the past, number of painful points during the last 6 months, number of painful events lasting more than 6 months, sum of pain intensities (graduated with Visual Analogic Scale VAS from 0 to 10), sum of gravity (evaluated from 0 to 5), the category of pain experience qualification (mostly affective, mostly sensorial, or both). Schizophrenic, depressed and control participants will be recruited, and their pain experience throughout life will be put it in relation to experimental pain tests results (pressure application, ischemia induction), anxiety and emotion (Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale HAD), catastrophizing (Pain Catastrophizing Scale PCS), Heart Rate (HR) variation, Blood Pressure (BP) variation.
Complex Dynamic Systems in Mood Disorders
Bipolar DisorderMajor Depressive DisorderComplex Dynamic Systems in Mood Disorders is an observational, exploratory study of the relationship between voice samples, heart rate, respiration, movement, galvanic skin conductance, and sleep architecture with mood states in patients with Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and healthy controls. The overall hypothesis is that nonlinear dynamic analyses will be able to reveal hidden patterns of complexity in each domain of voice, heart rate variability, movement, arousal, and sleep stage data.
Clinical and Suicidal Features of Urban, Turkish Middle Age Depressive Patients With Comorbid ADHD...
Depressive DisorderMajor2 moreIn the presence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) together with additional psychiatric diseases, the treatment process and prognosis of both ADHD and psychiatric comorbidity are adversely affected. The aim of this study is to compare the characteristics concerning the suicidal behavior of the patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) who have (ADHD+) or do not have (ADHD-) adult ADHD comorbidity and their responses to depression treatment. 96 inpatients were included in the study. Socio-demographic data form, Hamilton Depression Scale (HDRS), Wender Utah Rating Scale (WURS), Adult ADD/ADHD DSM IV- Based Diagnostic Screening and Rating Scale (A-ADHD), Personal and Social Performance Scale (PSP) were applied to the cases. In the study, depression starts at an early age in individuals with comorbid ADHD and the depression treatment progress changes negatively. This group of patients is at greater risk in terms of suicidal behavior. For these reasons, clinicians should be careful during ADHD and depression management in adults.
Chest Dysphoria in Transmasculine Spectrum Adolescents
Gender DysphoriaThe investigators hypothesize that masculinizing top surgery (e.g., mastectomy and chest masculinization) leads to an improvement in self-report chest dysphoria, gender dysphoria, and gender congruence in assigned-female-at-birth, transgender and non-binary youth and young adults. This is a prospective, observational study that will enroll assigned-female-at-birth, transmasculine spectrum individuals age 13 to 25 years old who are or are not undergoing top surgery. Participants will complete a set of standard of care questionnaires regarding their chest dysphoria (e.g., distress about the chest), gender dysphoria (e.g., distress about a gender identity that does not match assigned sex), and gender congruence (e.g., degree to which an individual feels they are living in their authentic appearance and gender identity). They will complete this same set of questionnaires either three months after their top surgery or three months after the initial set of surveys.
Relapse Predicting Model for First Episode Depression
Major Depressive DisordersMajor depressive depression(MDD) is an severe public mental disorders. The purpose of current study is using big data analysis based on clinical features and immunochemistry to investigate and establish an relapse predict model for patients with first episode MDD.
Wellness Monitoring for Major Depressive Disorder
Major Depressive DisorderThe Wellness Monitoring for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) study is a prospective, longitudinal, observational study aimed at identifying biomarkers of relapse in MDD. Results may help refine clinical approach to relapse management, and may ultimately help MDD patients sustain wellness while on antidepressant medication.
Molecular Imaging of Brain Inflammation in Depressive Disorders
Depressive DisorderMajor1 moreIn a number of neuropsychiatric disorders such as depression, both brain inflammation and glutamate mediated excitotoxicity (cell death through over-activated stimulation) are suspected to play a key role. It is difficult, if not impossible, to determine the potential destructiveness of the inflammatory response seen in disease states by studying the brain's inflammatory cells (microglia) activity in isolation. The investigators are proposing to develop the means to concurrently study inflammatory response (i.e., microglial activity) and its potentially devastating consequence (i.e., glutamate excitotoxicity) across the entire brain in order to establish the importance of inflammation. In this study the investigators propose a phased clinical study whereby the early-phase involves the development of our capacity to study inflammation-mediated damage to brain cells, followed by a feasibility study in patients with clinical depression that tests whether concurrent inflammation and glutamate excess could be measured in key brain regions associated with a depressed mood state.

Major Depressive DisorderThis is a retrospective chart review study to determine if Deplin® 7.5mg-15mg combined with an antidepressant is better than an antidepressant alone in adults with major depression.
Badalona Major Depressive Disorder Database Study
Major Depressive DisorderA retrospective study using a data base of anonymized medical records. The purpose of the study is to examine the different therapeutic strategies for the management of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and suboptimal response to antidepressant drugs in primary care
