Real-life Effectiveness of Vortioxetine in Depression
Major Depressive DisorderWorldwide Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) has significant negative personal, societal and economic consequences. Vortioxetine (Brintellix®) is a new antidepressant authorized since 2013. Despite evidence generated from clinical trials which demonstrate that vortioxetine is an efficacious, well-tolerated antidepressant, there is a need to determine the effectiveness of vortioxetine in real life routine practice. The study aim is to examine the real-life effectiveness of vortioxetine on functioning, depressive symptom relief, cognition and quality of life. This is an observational, multi-national, study in patients with MDD initiating treatment with vortioxetine. Information will be collected by the physician, from the patient and their medical record at three time points - baseline, week 12 and week 24 (end of follow-up). This study will be conducted in six countries. In total 2,100 patients are planned for enrolment.
Evaluation of a Home-based Community Health Worker Program in Rural Eastern Cape, South Africa
HIV InfectionsHIV/AIDS10 moreThe purpose of this early Phase 2 comparison trial is to evaluate the impact of community health worker (CHW) home visitors on pregnant women and their children in a rural setting in the rural Eastern Cape of South Africa. The intervention provided by the CHWs targets underweight children, mothers living with HIV (MLH), mothers using alcohol, and depressed mothers with the goal of supporting pregnant women to improve birth outcomes, decrease the number of children born with a low birthweight, and develop child caretaking skills over time. UCLA has identified and matched four areas surrounding primary health care clinics: two intervention areas in which this CHW program has been running for one year, and two control areas without the program. Mothers in the research area are followed for one year after giving birth.
Emotional Impact of the Way Conducting Cancer Patients to the Surgical Center

A previous study with the objective analyzing patient's emotional repercussion according the type of transport to the surgical center reached the following result: patients who go to the surgical center feel more relaxed in the preoperative period. The primary objective is to analyze emotional repercussion of patient diagnosed with cancer classified in Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Performance Status 0 and 1 according type transport to the surgical center.

The Impact of Anxiety or Depression on the Sedative Concentration of Propofol
AnxietyDepression3 more120 consecutive female patients, 18-65 years old, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I to II, scheduled for hysteroscopic surgery under propofol-based intravenous anesthesia will be recruited in this cohort study. The day before surgery, participants will be assessed the state of preoperative anxiety and depression. On the day of surgery, propofol will be administered by target controlled infusion (TCI) pump. During induction of anesthesia, the level of sedation will be evaluated. The induction dose of propofol, target effect-site concentration(Cet), plasma concentration(Cp) and effect-site concentration (Ce) of propofol will be recorded.

Patients (N=1203) were randomly selected from the outpatient cardiology clinics at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. After fulfilling the inclusion criteria and informed consent were obtained, they were given the case report form which included the Patient Health Questionnaire 9.
Depression Intervention Among Gay and Bisexual Men Receiving Treatment for Methamphetamine Use

Eligible participants are newly enrolled participants in an outpatient methamphetamine treatment program, and study activities will take place contemporaneously with participation in the service program. During the first two weeks of the treatment program, participants will be offered the chance to enroll in a low-intensity, internet-based depression intervention called MoodGym. Participants that agree to enroll will be offered the chance to attend up to seven MoodGym sessions at the same time they undergo outpatient methamphetamine treatment. It is hypothesized that sexual risk outcomes, as well as medication adherence (e.g., PrEP/PEP; ART) outcomes will be optimized for participants who enroll to receive the MoodGym intervention content.
