Mechanisms of Anxiety and Depression Study
DepressionAnxietyEligible participants will come in for three separate visits in which they will be interviewed, perform a variety of tasks, and undergo a non-invasive MRI scan. The investigators anticipate that (1) participants with anxiety and depression will likely perform differently than the healthy controls on cognitive tasks, (2) participants with anxiety and depression will likely show differences in brain functionality compared to the healthy controls, and (3) depression and anxiety likely share some underlying mechanisms.
Wellness Monitoring for Major Depressive Disorder
Major Depressive DisorderThe Wellness Monitoring for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) study is a prospective, longitudinal, observational study aimed at identifying biomarkers of relapse in MDD. Results may help refine clinical approach to relapse management, and may ultimately help MDD patients sustain wellness while on antidepressant medication.
Depressive Symptoms and Sexual Dysfunction in Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal Cord InjuriesMale Sexual DysfunctionAims: assess the relationship between sexual function and depressive symptoms in individuals with spinal cord injury.

Postpartum DepressionAfter vaginal delivery, all of the participants will evaluate by using Edinburg depression scale and venous blood sample will obtain. Postpartum depression will consider the result of scale 13 and above according to Turkhish translate. Post-stroke Triage "DOC": Simple Screening for Depression, Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Cognitive...
Transient Ischemic AttackStroke3 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine whether simple, evidence-based clinical screening be quickly and feasibly implemented (>85% of patients in an average of <6 minutes) in large-volume urgent transient ischemic attack (TIA)/stroke clinics to identify individuals at high risk for the three most common and devastating post-stroke co-morbidities (depression, obstructive sleep apnea and cognitive disorders).
Perinatal Depression Treatment and Child Development
DepressionThe purpose of this study is to examine whether the successful perinatal depression intervention among mothers (Thinking Healthy Programme, THP) has led to improved developmental outcomes in the children 6 years later. Economic and human resources aspects of the intervention will also be evaluated to determine overall societal benefits from investment in such a program, feasibility of scaling up the intervention and its sustainability in the long-term. The primary hypothesis is that children of mothers who participated in the THP will have better cognitive outcomes and socio-emotional functioning when compared to children of mothers randomized to the control group.

HIVAIDSQuantitative, validated tools of depression screening will be used to collect data to determine the prevalence of depression and its association with antiretroviral (ARV) adherence amongst HIV positive patients attending ART clinic at Lighthouse Lilongwe, Malawi.
Cardiac Health, Mood, & Neuroimmune Activation
Heart FailureDepressionThe study is designed to find out more about how mood and the nervous system affect the body's immune system. The investigators plan to study this in people who have been identified by their physician as being at-risk for the development of heart failure. There will be approximately 525 individuals participating in this study at UCSD and at the VASDHS. Individuals who will be asked to take part in this study will have a functional or structural heart problem apparent on an echocardiogram, or a previous heart attack, but no symptoms of heart failure. Some individuals will only complete one assessment (consisting of psychological questionnaires and interview, walk test, blood draw, and body measurements), whereas others deemed "high-risk" on the basis of a laboratory test, will be asked to complete that same assessment every 6 months for the duration of the study.
Prevalence and Predictors of Depression in COPD
DepressionCOPDDepression adversely affects quality of life in COPD patients, associated with higher rate of exacerbations, admissions and mortality. However, local prevalence rate of depression in geriatric COPD patients remains unknown. Though BODE index is superior to FEV1 in prediction of depression in COPD, it is unclear which domain of BODE correlates best with depression. Furthermore, with multiple confounding factors, it's ambiguous that whether frequent exacerbation is an 'independent' predictor for depression among COPD patients. The objective of this study is i.) to study the local prevalence rate of depression in geriatric COPD patients, ii.) to identify risk factors for depression especially looking at the any independent relationship between frequent exacerbations, various domains of BODE index and depression.
