Cognitive Markers of Response to Treatment in Resistant Depression

Depression

Patients with depression are frequently treatment resistant. Clinical manifestations of depression are various, but cognitive dysfunctions are commonly present. Many factors are involved in treatment resistance. As no biological marker is available, clinical markers could be considered in predicting response to antidepressive treatment. The aim of this study is to investigate the relation between the cognitive changes and the remission of depressive symptoms in patients with recurrent depression (Stage 2 of Thase and Rush classification). To explore the dynamics of cognitive dimension associated to clinical and functional remission, the investigators will observe neurocognitive functioning before and after introducing a new antidepressive therapy.

Quality of Life in Chinese Working and School Age Population With MDD

Major Depressive DisorderRemission

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a common mental illness with high prevalence and global burden. Previous studies revealed that over 70% patients in remission still had decreased quality of life, severe function impairment, low positive mental health score and poor coping ability. However, few studies focus on working and school age patients with MDD. A GBD survey showed that over 40% MDD patients are 15-50 years old. Therefore, we initiate the present multi-center cross-sectional survey to investigate the associations between clinical symptoms, cognitive function, occupational/study ability, and quality of life in Chinese working and school age population with MDD who are in remission.

Massive Mental Health Screening Using Smartphones in 24 Pre-graduate Education Centers in Mexico...

Suicidal IdeationSocial Behavior5 more

The objective of this study is to make a massive suicide risk and social behavior assessment in 24 pre-graduate education centers in Mexico City (approximately 30,000 students aged between 15 and 22 years), taking also into account other outcomes such as depression, anxiety, alcohol and drugs. For this, an app for Smartphone (MeMind) or a web platform (www.MeMind.net) will be used in which the participants will take a self-administered questionnaire, composed of several psychometric instruments. Our main hypothesis is that identification of suicide risk in the Mexico City's student community is feasible using their own smartphones and can serve as both a population screening tool for early specialist referral, as well as a tool for evaluating social behavior strategies and their relation to suicide behavior.
