The Therapeutic Effects of Topical Cannabidiol (CBD) Products for Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic Dermatitis

The goal of this observational study is to learn about the potential therapeutic effects of topical CBD products produced by Phoilex Ltd., specifically the Releaf Gel, in those diagnosed with atopic dermatitis. Patients will be routinely assessed via questionnaire, and physical measurements will be taken with respect to the affected area studied in order to judge clinical efficacy. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: Did you experience an immediate increase in skin hydration? Did you experience a soothing or comforting feeling on your irritated skin area? Please explain where your affected area is located, and also include at what time point this occurred. Example: Affected Area: Palm, Time Point: 1-hour post-application Upon the affected area being in the healing phase, was your skin itch/scratch free for 4/6/10/12 hours (please circle)? Did you experience immediate relief from your skin inflammation? Did the study cream absorb quickly into your skin, without any greasy feeling? Has your skin flare disappeared in 2 week(s)? Has your skin condition appearance improved? (Yes/No) Participants will apply Phoilex Releaf Gel (a cream) to their affected areas of atopic dermatitis. The questions listed above shall be discussed and observations recorded at the 0 week, 1 week, 2 week, and 4 week time points. Additional monitoring questions may be asked of the participants to ensure the safety of the product. A chart will be provided to the participants to track Phoilex Releaf Gel usage (how many pumps, and time of day) throughout duration of the study. We hypothesize that Releaf gel will be suitable to ameliorate the common signs and symptoms of atopic dermatitis as well as improve patient quality of life.

Frequency of Palpebral Involvement in Adult With Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis is a common inflammatory skin disease, resulting from genetical, immunological and environmental factors. Head and neck are among the most frequent involved areas, almost 50% in adult patients according to most publications. Palpebral involvement is also common and a source of major quality of life impairment for patients. However, the real frequency of this palpebral involvement is unknown, only estimated about 20% in few studies. The treatment of this location remains difficult, regarding to the thickness of palpebral skin and proximity of the eye. To our knowledge, no prospective studies about allergological skin tests (such as patch-tests) in atopic patients with palpebral involvement had been conducted. Finally, atopic dermatitis is frequently associated with ophthalmological diseases such as conjunctivitis, keratoconus or cataract, which belong to the minor criteria of Hanifin and Rakja classification. A better knowledge of the atopic dermatitis palpebral involvement and the associated factors seems to be needed to improve the treatment and the quality of life of patients

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)Atopic Dermatitis (AD)2 more

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease of the joints characterized by the swelling of multiple joints and tenderness caused by progressive inflammatory synovitis, which leads to serious and debilitating diseases. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a skin condition that may cause a rash and itching due to inflammation of the skin. Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a form of chronic arthritis causing inflammation in the spine. This can cause pain and stiffness in the back. Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a type of arthritis (swelling and stiffness in the joints) that is frequently seen in trial participants who also have the skin condition psoriasis. It is caused by the body's immune system mistakenly attacking healthy joint tissue causing inflammation, joint damage, disability, and a reduced life expectancy. This study will assess the adverse events and change in disease symptoms in Korean participants with RA, AD, AS or PsA. Upadacitinib is a drug approved for the treatment of moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, ankylosing spondylitis or psoriatic arthritis. Korean participants who have been prescribed upadacitinib by their physicians will be enrolled. Approximately, 3600 participants will be enrolled this study, in multiple sites within Korea. Participants will receive Upadacitinib as prescribed by the physician and will be followed for approximately 28 weeks. There will be no additional burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the course of the study at a hospital or clinic and will be asked to provide additional information by questionnaire at each visit.

Effects of Electroacupuncture to Relieve Itching Degree in Patients With Chronic Atopic Eczema

Chronic Lichenified Atopic Dermatitis

Eczema is a common allergic skin disease, accounting for about 15 to 30% of dermatological outpatients. Pruritus as one of the most painful symptoms is often underestimated in terms of the problems that it can cause, which creates the vicious loop of itching, scratching, and lichenification. Therefore, further research into practical and safe treatments that eliminate itchy symptoms and enhance skin protection is the key to overcoming chronic atopic eczema. Acupuncture has been utilized clinically in China for thousands of years due to its benefits of being practical, affordable, and simple to execute. With modern science and technology advancements, electroacupuncture (AE) has become widely used in China's public hospitals to treat chronic atopic eczema. This trial aims to objectively evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of the electroacupuncture antipruritic technique in chronic atopic eczema pruritus and to obtain its high-level clinical evidence for the popularization and application of electroacupuncture clinical treatment of chronic atopic eczema.

A Study to Assess Disease Activity in Adolescent and Adult Participants With Atopic Dermatitis Who...

Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a skin condition that may cause a rash and itching due to inflammation of the skin. Therapies spread over the skin may not be enough to control the AD in trial participants who require systemic anti-inflammatory treatment. This study will assess the real-world effectiveness of upadacitinib on early and sustained response along adolescent and adult participants with AD. This study also aims to understand upadacitinib utilization patterns in real-world clinical practice. Upadacitinib (RINVOQ) is approved in the EU for the treatment of moderate to severe AD in adults and adolescents 12 years and older who are candidates for systemic therapy. Approximately 772 adolescent and adult participants with AD will be enrolled at up to 200 sites in Germany. Participants will receive oral upadacitinib tablets as prescribed by the physician prior to enrolling in this study in accordance with the terms of the local marketing authorization and professional and reimbursement guidelines with regards to dose, population, and indication. The overall duration of the study is approximately 2 years. Participants will attend regular visits per routine clinical practice. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, checking for side effects, and questionnaires.

Preventing Atopic Dermatitis and ALLergies in Children

Atopic DermatitisFood Allergy in Children6 more

The primary objective is of the PreventADALL study is to test if primary prevention of allergic diseases is possible by simple and low cost strategies, and secondary to asses the impact of xenobiotic exposure and microbiota in and on the body and the environment on allergic disease development. The secondary objective is an exploratory focus to investigate early life risk factors for development of non-communicable diseases, including asthma and allergic diseases as well as for diseases that may share common risk factors, including cardiovascular disease, obesity and diabetes. Design: A multi-national population-based prospective birth cohort with a factorial designed randomized controlled intervention trial of two clinical interventions; skin care 0-9 months and early food introduction by 3-4 months, thereafter observation only. Recruitment in three cities (Oslo, Ostfold and Stockholm) of approximately 2500 mother-child pairs is done in two steps; first pregnant women are recruited and enrolled at the 18-weeks ultrasound investigation (n=approximately 2700) and thereafter their new-born babies are included. Randomization into four groups is done by the postal code or "township" to ensure all four intervention-groups within each "township". Visits for biological and environmental sampling, observations and investigations will be at the relevant pediatric departments (at 3-6-12-24-36 months of age) and through childhood into adulthood thereafter, provided sufficient funding.

A Community-based Assessment of Skin Care, Allergies, and Eczema

Atopic DermatitisAtopic Disorders2 more

Atopic dermatitis (AD) affects over 9 million children in the U.S. and often heralds the development of asthma, food allergy, skin infections and neurodevelopmental disorders. Recent advances identify skin barrier dysfunction to be the key initiator of AD and possibly allergic sensitization. Our central hypothesis is that daily emollient use from birth can prevent the development of AD in a community setting and into newborns unselected for risk. The results of a community-based clinical trial utilizing a pragmatic trial design will be immediately applicable to the population at large and will establish a new standard of care for all newborns.
