Effect of Oral Vitamin D Supplement on Atopic Dermatitis; A Clinical Trial With Staphylococcus Aureus...
Atopic DermatitisBackground: Increase in skin colonization of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in atopic dermatitis patients (AD) resulted from the reduction of cathelicidin production in these patients plays the important role in pathogenesis of this disease. Recently in vivo study has showed that vitamin D can stimulate cathelicidin production. Oral supplement of vitamin D might be beneficial in atopic dermatitis. Objective: To determine the effect of oral vitamin D supplement on clinical impact including skin colonization of S. aureus in atopic dermatitis patients.

Probiotics in Adults: do They Improve Atopic Dermatitis?
Adult Atopic DermatitisProbiotics are suggested to have beneficial effects in atopic dermatitis (AD) treatment and prevention but their precise role is not yet clear. The aim of this randomized double blinded active treatment vs placebo study was to evaluate clinical efficacy of intake of a combination of two probiotics (Lactobacillus salivarius LS01 and Bifidobacterium breve BR03) for the treatment of adult AD patients. The rationale for the use of probiotics in the treatment of atopic dermatitis would be due to some experimental hypotheses: The use of these microbial agents at an early age seems to play an important role in inducing immunity T type 1 (Th1) and inhibit the development of a Th2 response IgE mediated the normal intestinal flora (including probiotics) would play an important role in inducing immunological tolerance the hygiene hypothesis that the reduced bacterial environment would favour a type 2 response T and the development of allergic diseases

MediHoney for Radiation Dermatitis
Breast CancerRadiation DermatitisThe aim of this study is to compare the effects of Medihoney and Hydrophor on radiation dermatitis reactions in a group of women undergoing radiation therapy for breast cancer. It is hoped that the outcome of this pilot study will provide evidence supporting the use of Medihoney in preventing and treating radiation dermatitis as well as sufficient preliminary data to expand this study to larger, federally funded research (R01) looking at the beneficial aspects of Medihoney across a spectrum of radiation dermatitis and mucositis in several disease settings.

Phase IIa Study of WBI-1001 Cream for Atopic Dermatitis
DermatitisAtopicWBI-1001 is a synthetic, new, non-steroid, small molecule being developed as a candidate drug for the topical, cream treatment of inflammatory skin diseases. As such, it affects T-cells through inhibition of T-cell activities including their infiltration processes, and it shows direct anti-inflammatory manifestation in the mouse edema model. This was a 28 day study (plus one follow-up week) on patients with Atopic Dermatitis, and 36 patients were treated randomly, BID with either 0.5%, 1.0% or placebo. Blood samples were taken weekly for PK analysis.

Safety and Efficacy of SRD441 Ointment in Patients With Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic DermatitisAtopic Dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affect 10 to 15% of children and 2 to 10% of adults. AD is characterised by an itchy skin eruption and may cover large parts of the body. The exact cause is unknown but is thought to be an interplay between genetic and and environmental factors. The objective of this study is to determine whether SRD441 ointment is a safe and effective therapy for mild to moderate Atopic Dermatitis.
